Default What are your favorite years for comics?

This topic has probably already been done, but I'm too fucking lazy to look it up. What are your personal favorite years for comics. Here's mine:

1963-1966: Classic Spiderman and the beginning of X-Men
1973-1976: Death of Gwen Stacy, first story with Harry Osborn as the Green Goblin, original Clone Saga
1984-1998: I know the latter part of this period is one many comic readers' shit list, but some of my all-time favs are in this period. Really a rich period. In order chronologically (well, sort of), there's the Hobgoblin saga, alien symbiote and birth of Venom and Carnage, John Arcudi's The Mask, Aliens, Predator, Terminator, Robocop, The Death and Return of Superman, Age of Apocalypse (X-Men comics on the whole ruled that era), Venom limited series (it went to shit in 1997), Maximum Carnage, Spiderman Clone Saga, Carnage one-shots, Spiderman Adventures (and of course the animated series ), X-Men animated series, Green Goblin series (not very good but fun and very nostalgic), Batman Animated Series, Knightfall, early Spawn.
2002-2004: Marvel Knights Spiderman, early 30 Days of Night, early Criminal Macabre, Venom and Venom vs. Carnage, Beckett's Terminator 3 series
2011-2012: Amazing Spiderman really made a rebound, Venom Carnage, Scarlet Spider, Uncanny X-Force, Monocyte, Rebel Blood, Robocop, King Conan
Empty winds scrape on the soul never stop to realize/Animal whisperings intoxicate the night
Hypnotize the desperate slow motionlight/Wash away into the rain
    Blood, milk and sky....

    My favorite periods are:

1968-1974 for all the great design work and the slew of cool new characters from both DC and Marvel. Just a ton of new ideas and great stuff like the Kree-Skrull War, the Fourth World, GL/GA relevancy, the return of the serious Batman, the death of Gwen Stacy; the first appearances of characters like Ghost Rider, Jonah Hex, Punisher, Luke Cage, Conan, Thanos; and first issues of stuff like Conan, Defenders, etc. Just a great era.

1996-2001 for some of my all-time favorite comics. There was nothing like going to the store and coming home with new issues of Sandman Mystery Theater, Starman, Astro City, Box Office Poison and the Busiek/Perez run of Avengers, sometimes all at the same time. Every trip to the store for new issues during this period was a blast.

With the reprints so easily available now I got to say I do love just about all the Marvel and most DC stuff from the 60's.
Still though my personal golden age would be the stuff from 1974-1984 cause that was when I did most of my collecting.
    Fun and exciting times.

More than once I've cited an old editor's adage the "golden age of science fiction is 12." With comics, for me the golden age started around the middle of age 7 & continued into age 10, which translates into 1967-1970. I own well over 10,000 comics published a lot more recently than that -- when TPBs & HCs are thrown into the mix, it's probably more like 20,000, & maybe a lot more -- & I've enjoyed the heck ouf of loads of those ... but that era has to be my sweet spot.
I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."
Basically, if you miss the wonder of a dog flying around in a little Superman cape, you're in the wrong hobby.

    Approximately 1936 to 2011.

The "golden age is twelve" rule never applied to me. I'm not really wired for nostalgia.

I started reading about 1970 but drifted out in the mid 70's. I would say 1979-1989.

Mine is varied too. So there's no precise answer.

Then, there are things that worked for classic 60s Spidey that could never work now. For example, if a new villain was introduced in 2012...there wouldn't be cover blurb asking the reader if the villain looks cute to you and if he makes you want to smile (as was done with the Green Goblin). More than likely it would be some hot chick with lots of cleavage in a very suggestive pose, the way it ought to be

For me it would be the period between 1976 when I was in second grade until 1987 when I graduated high school. From classic Englehart/Shooter Perez Avengers and Claremont/Byrne X-Men, until the early issues of the relaunches of post-Crisis DC with Byrne's Superman, Perez's Wonder Woman, Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire Justice League, the Legends mini series and Batman Year One. I like things before and after that period, but that is my sweet spot.

In 1989 is when the Keaton Batman movie was released and I felt Comics became worst after that. I came back full force around the Death Of Superman issues. I think that was 1992 ?

I would say from 1976, when I first started reading comics until about 1985, when I graduated high school. It just seemed like there was so much good stuff out there then.
Also at this time I was reading the Marvel reprint titles. So I was getting to enjoying the work of the 60s and early 70s during this time. After books like Crisis, Dark Knight Returns and Watchman the stories took a turn into a direction that I really didn't like. And, for me, never recovered from.

The bulk of my favorites are in the early and mid eighties. I love alternative comics and this was their "golden age" you could say. I do like a lot of comics that came earlier and later though. I really like modern comics too.
