it just seems like Shade The Changing man was a wasted character
for those just tuning in we only know him as Some Mental Case who has a magic vest that freaks out on him depending on how his mind is working not only that but he always caused problems for the team more than they could handle so in the end people new to the character just see him as someone who does more bad than good

Shade is literally the most interesting character in the book for me...
Yeah, I concur. Shade was the most interesting character in the book, followed closely by Constantine of course. A man racked with guilt, poor Rac ;) Anyway, glad Milligan got to send him off, of course, seeing as how he's the only one who should have his fingerprints on this version of Shade! A nice little "new 52" shade status quo and closure all in one issue. I think it's the last we've seen of shade, with an ending like that. Little mysterious, but happy all the same. And those who have read the 70 issue Shade series would agree, me thinks.
Anyway, sad Milligan is off the book before his seeds took root. You can tell he had long term plans brewing. Ah well. What a cast of characters, I will give 9 a shot, but it'll be a very different book I feel.
I wonder if Mindwarp will pop up in Stormwatch? I find that more likely.
