The thought of him leaving JIM and it ending saddens me but if he has to leave I want him on Thor this man is great with Asgardian stories.

I believe he said 30 issues was what he was going for, which would make 650/651. 650 if we count the .1 issue. That's going to be a sad day. Probably as sad as the ending will be.
As for books after aside from him likely continuing with Uncanny, books I could see him for or would like to see:
Dr. Strange
Son of Satan
Captain Britain and MI:13
Any Cosmic Marvel as I can't think of anything for sure
Thor
Much as I would love this I think it exceptionally unlikely. Creatively a great idea, but Marvel investing so heavily in such a property is never going to happen. Plus, sadly, Rick Remender has kind of ended the Captain's association with MI13, by booting him back into his portrayal from 20 years back. A huge waste.

"The Captain Britain Corps," detailing the Corps' missions to preserve the Omniverse as well as their interactions at home in Otherworld with Leir and the Tuatha de Dannan as well as the Fomorians. Sort of like a "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" set-up where you can tell stories about Corps politics on Otherworld just as easily as you can have epic adventures spanning multiple Earths.
Just as long as he stays on Uncanny X-Men I'll be happy.
I think he would be a good choice for one of the Fantastic Four titles also.
But how awesome would it be to have a limited series revisiting Super-Villain Team-Up with Namor and Doctor Doom? Or Loki and Doom? Gillen still hasn't told us what happened to the Loki sample Doom collected back in Thor.
"...Doom's enemies have not the mettle to challenge him host to host, tooth to nail... As economic and military options fail them, they resort to simple rudeness."
Give him a Dr. Strange ongoing and make him the architect of the Marvel magical universe.

I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!
If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.

More than anything Gillen needs small, character centric books about snarky, clever protagonists.
His slightly romantic, largely sardonic, pop culture laden narratives lend themselves more effectively to myth and magic than to science fiction, so it makes sense to give him something in that vein as well.
FF satisfies the most important criteria, in my opinion, but the hard science of the whole set up doesn't seem to be Gillen's forte -- his SWORD was only just okay, and if it was good it was mostly for the character stuff, rather than sci fi world building. Even Unit's and his abilities...I'm enjoying the hell out of him, but he's more treated as sort of a magic devil.

It just pigeon-holes him into a genre. That isn't how he'll grow as a creator. The dude is talented, he just needs to spread his wings more.
To be fair, ultimately the choice is up to him where he wants to go. But I've seen his Thor and his Loki (and supporting cast), both are great. Feel like his science fiction stuff has potential, even if it isn't heavy-duty sci-fi.

Give him Ian McNee from that Mystic Arcana mini and have Strange, Magik, Loki, Son of Satan and Mephisto be frequesnt guest stars.
That guy is british and snarky, but other than that a blank slate on which Gillen can write a long form story.
I'd like to see him get a shot at Thor for a while, as he gets those characters. It takes a certain touch to make it work and he obviously gets it. I think he could have fun with Johnny and definitely Ben of the Fantastic Four especially with the FF in the background (as I can't see that second book lasting long at all after Hickman).
I'd probably go there maybe more than the Avengers, although it might be time for a switch around on the teams on one of the books and maybe having someone like Thor be the chairman with Gillen writing would be interesting. It would be good to see someone writing Thor as a leader in that kind of role having to play up his interaction with humans, which kind of hasn't happened that much in his own book forever. I got a feeling someone other than Cap and definitely Iron Man is going to get the reigns as the big team for a bit after this whole current series, so maybe that opens up things for someone like Gillen to do some different things with other characters in the Avengers (like maybe Thor or perhaps the Vision or someone different).
