Was Thanos' lackey someone from the comics or just some random Chitauri?
I believe you need a certain number of posts before you can edit your profile.
Also, there are other Avengers threads. You should have posted in one of them. Don't be surprised if this gets merged.

was utterly useless, I cringed at his costume, it was just a tad too blue and too clean. It just looked weird surrounded by costumes with more use of texture and a more realistic feel. I'm not an American, that might have been one of the reasons why his character felt redundant, his role seemed to be aimed at that weird american sense of patriotism. He needed to be there because...because America fuck yeah, which is sort of "derp". He was on the same level as Hawkeye and the Black Widow, pretty much normal folk with no range except clean up on the ground, while the big boys hurl planets at each other. Except Hawkeye and Black Widow were way more effective and interesting to look at.
Wasn't Maria Hill a latina in the comics?
It's uncut as in it's a tracking shot, no cuts with the camera.
And i still don't understand when people say Cap was useless. And there definitely wasn't any jingo "America fuck yea" about him. I'm English, trust me, i'd hate the character if he was like that.
I loved it when he was giving orders to the other Avengers. Shows off his tactical mind. Also when he was snooping around on the Helicarrier and discovered what SHIELD was up to was like something straight out of a Brubaker comic. It was a perfect adaptation of Cap from the comics. He isn't a heavy hitter, he doesn't have flashy powers, but he brings more to the table than kicking ass. Although he kicked plenty of Chitauri ass in the final battle.
The costume was a bit iffy yea, but they kinda make fun of it in the movie. It's very aware that he looks a bit silly.
But he was pretty passive throughout the whole thing. He wasn't a brilliant tactician, he wasn't the team's strategist for most of the movie. Near the end he gets to do stuff and the stuff he does doesn't really impress. Cap wasn't a team leader, he never managed to motivate the team himself, no big rousing speech, he was basically just a foot soldier only amplified, and it felt like a pointless addition next to Black Widow and Hawkeye.
Yes he had his moment, but it felt like it was too little too late to save his presence there. Which is weird, because he was an excellent point of view character at the stat of this movie and at the end of his own. Fish out of water, but it was hardly touched upon. I never got into his head, everybody else had an outspoken character, save for Captain America, heck I know more about Hawkeye as a normal person than I do about Rogers.
This was much more of an Iron Man/Thor movie, with the Hulk thrown in, and with the Black Widow as the human character to connect to as an audience, when it could have been Captain America as the point of view character to introduce the situation and others.
This movie and Thor's own movie have made me really interested in the Thor character and his corner of the Marvel Universe.
Yea i can see what you're saying. I did expect more from Cap's POV. I read somewhere that a lot was cut from the film, it was originally like 3 hours long. Maybe a few of those scenes where Cap's?
And yea i agree that Thor and his world is what interests me most now. I'm genuinely excited for Thor 2, to see what kind of punishment Odin has for Loki and all that. Also wouldn't be surprised if spoilers:
end of spoilers shows up in Thor's sequel before Avengers 2.
There's going to be an extra 30 minutes in the DVD release of you want even more :)

Was it me, or was Hawkeye's code name never used in the movie? Black Widow got a few mentions, but I don't remember hearing anything except Agent Barton for him.
In any case, it was a great show. And the campaign for a Widow/Hawkeye movie by Joss Whedon starts here!
I think Natasha called him Clint once, when they were speaking after the Helicarrier attack.
