I really liked the #1 issue. Great writing and art. As someone else pointed out, the nature of having the TV show do exactly the opposite of what is really going on allows for some cool stories. Really nothing else to say except I'll keep reading.

it's too bad there are a lack of supernatural indie titles out there =( hoax hunters seems to be the only one people can easily jump into right now without having to back track for issues

yeah i suppose so....maybe if creepy comics didn't have such a random order of releasing issues I'd be fine but nope Dark horse has to release those things once every few months or so

Yes, indeed! You will definitely see threads play out from one story arc to another--especially with Jack's dad. The overarching plot won't consumer the series, though. It's not like, say, Morning Glories where the mystery IS the story. We'll still have some fun freak of the week stories, character focused issues, things like that.
But, yes, one story will play out for awhile in the series.

got the chance to look #1 this week and well not much happened to be honest i was disappointed that when things finally started going somewhere the issue was over
not just that but as many have stated the television show element wasn't touched on that much....

Not sure what to say to that. Sorry you're disappointed, I suppose. I think a lot of things happen in this issue, but their ramifications just hasn't been seen yet. We're not fans of compressed storytelling; the book operates on suspense, mystery, and strong characters. That stuff takes time to build.
As for the TV thing, sure, I've seen a few people say that as well. But the fact is, Hoax Hunters is not a TV show. It's a comic. And watching Fact or Faked on television is one thing; since it transcribed to a comic is another thing--and a very boring thing at that. We'll be incorporating the show from time to time, but I don't find that dynamic enough to be a major part of the story.
So, sorry you're disappointed. I appreciate you giving it a shot!

But, for what it's worth, I do think more things happen--in a concrete sense--in issue #2. Check out this preview:

Right off the bat, you see the carnival mentioned in the first issue--all those breadcrumbs will play out!
