Thread: Hoax Hunters

    Default Hoax Hunters

Hi everyone! I'm Michael Moreci, co-creator/writer of Hoax Hunters. I've been on the boards for awhile now talking about this and that (mainly Hoax Hunters), but I figured it might be a good time to start a general Hoax Hunters thread.

If you're unfamiliar, issue #0 was released last month (and sold out) and the series returns July 5 with an all-new issue #1. We're ongoing from there, and have big things in store.

For the time being, here's a look at the cover for issue #1, courtesy of the always amazing Tim Seeley:

It's on my pull, looking forward to it. Just out of curiosity, how long do you think typical stories will be? One or two issues or do you plan on longer arcs?

That's a good question. We'll be mixing it up, in terms of arc lengths. For instance, the first arc is four issues long, then issue five is a one shot. The second arc, I think, is going to be three issues. But underlying the individual arcs is a longer story that ties much of what happens together.

Thanks for putting the book on your pull!

This is going to be an ongoing series right? The shop I order from online has it listed as a mini.

    Very excited about this series!

If I may ask a typical question, how did you and Mr. Seeley meet up and come up with this idea and how was it pitching it to Image? I'm always interested in how creators do their thing.

Well,it's kind of an unusual story. We never really pitched to Image. The series started as a backup in Tim Seeley's Hack Slash. (Tim and Steve are brothers)

We did ten consecutive issues, so by the time we approached Image, much had already been published. They liked the work, so they granted us the opportunity we have now. We're lucky, but we worked hard to make it happen.

As for how Steve and I came up with the idea, Hoax Hunters is actually a mix of a few of our concepts. We both love conspiracies and cryptozoology, and everything mashed together is what forms the book!

Does number 1 have a different artist? For some reason i loved the art when i was flipping though it in the store, but when i sat down to read it the art kept pulling me out of story. (Pretty crows though)

Yeah it's a different artist for #1. I liked the art for the preview of #1 better than the #0 issue.
