"Um, blah, blah, blah. And, Girl Power. Feminism, d'you know what I mean?"
The God of Love (not like Aphrodite, different. He's the god that makes people fall in love)
We saw:
Apollo, God of the Sun, black guy who turns into the human torch, arguably the main villain
Hera, queen of the Gods
Zeus, in a flashback
Hades, creepy child
Hermes, WW main ally (?)
Strife, Goddess of being Awesome (also Discord)
Ares, God of War and Brian Azzarello in disguise
Poseidon, the big whale, god of the ocean
Hephaestus, blackshimth god
I do see Aleka as a good candidate for New52 Giganta.
Eros is probably better known by his Roman name of Cupid. But he is far from the laughing cherub who shoots love-heart tipped arrows in old 40's cartoons. The love his weapons create is all consuming, and potentially destructive. His Greek name of Eros is the origin of the word erotic.
There is potentially a joke in there in an upcoming issue about Madonna![]()
Irene Adler: “I would have you right here on this desk until you begged for mercy twice.”
Sherlock: “I’ve never begged for mercy in my life.”
Irene: “Twice.”
Great speculation, and this part is particularly good--it does seem like Heph acts pretty suddenly, right after Wonder Woman has turned down Eros' company. I mildly hope you;re wrong, though, if only because I've taking a liking to Heph, and I'd rather find that he was plotting wit Wonder woman, not against her.
I do kind of like the idea of Hippolyta being involved, if only because it might lead to her appearing and clarifying some things in the next couple of issues. And it does seem plausible that Hippolyta would have gone to hell and met with Hades,
Hermes' concern is to protect Zola; Diana is his best means to the end. Hermes is probably working for Zeus. He probably doesn't care who takes the kingship, because Zola's child is somehow a trump card who will make the question moot.
Lennox is playing it by ear, but he listens to the wind and calls her "she". Lennox will choose his own moment to score one for the good guys.
All this is why I think it's Hippolyta who will betray Diana's intentions by forcing her to marry Hades, while selling Zola out to Hera in return for restoring the Amazons. Hell of a rift between mother and daughter, but it will mean that Diana winds up with the loyalty of one of the strongest players, and that's what matters.[/QUOTE]
I wouldn't be so sure. She's been turned into clay and the other amazons into snakes, that doesn't mean they're dead. She might be in a state of coma... don't really know how else to explain it... I mean, in fiction, getting turned into stone by an evil witch never killed anybody (think of Narnia).
We see Diana on the throne of gods on issue 11, I see her obtaining the powers of Zeus for a short while just in time to free the Amazons by the magic that transformed them.

If giving the guns wasnt part of a plan, then it was pretty stupid. WW is basically giving him the means to brainwash someone else to fall in love with him. And Hades isnt the god of love like Eros so.... I mean Eros is the god of love so we can assume that he knows what he is doing. Hades would just abuse his power.
Its like giving a creep date rape pills. Not the best thing to do...
It seems unlikely that Azzarello would bring God into the story, doesn't it? I don't see anything in the story so far, in Azzarello's prior work or in his public statements that would suggest that this might be his intention or inclination.
And, after all, it is fiction. So if Azzarello didn't either intend it or at least unwittingly leave some clues in the story that would support such a reading, it's not really part of the story, right? If you could point out some such clues, that would be interesting. Otherwise, I think you're not so much interpreting this story or speculating on how it will actually play out as suggesting how an alternative, CHristian version of it would play out--and suggesting such a thing may also be interesting, but I just wanted to point out the difference.
My Wild Prediction for the Day: Lennox is Zeus.
"... Act, that each tomorrow find us farther than today."
- Longfellow
But I like Lennox!
I still say Hermes is the Puppet-Master behind Zeus dissapearence. Zola son is indeed Zeus ready to come back, and he wants to be sure he gets a hold of the infant.
He's the God of Thieves.
Dude, that's like saying Superman is gonna battle Satan because Ma and Pa Kent probably brought him to Church on sunday.
Oh, I didn't mean to sound sure at all. I just meant it's plausible--not necessarily all that likely.
In all of fiction? I think it probably has killed someone. Anyway, if Azz wants her in hell, he could just assume that a soul goes there when all bodily functions cease; that doesn't mean her soul can't turn later when a transformed , deanimated body is restored.I mean, in fiction, getting turned into stone by an evil witch never killed anybody (think of Narnia).
Yep, that's actually my guess too. Still wouldn't mind seeing the shade of Hippolyta appear and explain some things in issue 9 or 10. Call me impatient. We see Diana on the throne of gods on issue 11, I see her obtaining the powers of Zeus for a short while just in time to free the Amazons by the magic that transformed them.![]()
I'm impatiant too, but I'm afraid we'll have to wait a lot. I see it as a cliffhanger situation, Diana just beat whoever is respoinsible for all this and the issue ends with a tearful reunion and a "Mother, we have to talk." and you have to wait an entire month to get the discussion.
I say we won't get any before issue 13 at best.
