Flex Mentallo and Doom Patrol question...

I just picked up the Deluxe Collected Flex Mentallo and was basically wondering if i should read Morrison's Doom Patrol run before reading Flex Mentallo? I presume it would be enhanced, but can i read Flex as a standalone tale?

That said, I plan on reading Morrison's Doom Patrol run, just wondering if I should shelve flex until after I've completed Doom Patrol

Nope, Flex is a stand alone and you can read both separately without each other.

If anything, Flex is part of the Morrison Trinity of Flex --> The Invisibles --> The Filth, all of which spill out Morrison's life beliefs and transformations.

I read through Flex Mentallo a couple days ago and never read Doom Patrol. It stands alone. Very much so.

I don't know how much would be added if I had previously read through DP (is it DP or Invisibles that has Flex?), but you can always re-read the book when you get to that point.

I just picked up the Flex Mentallo hc myself. I've been a Morrison fan since picking up his JLA and had always wanted to read flex without having to shell out big bucks on ebay. Does anyone have thoughts+observations on the series? I found it to be very thought provoking.

Yeah Flex Mentallo appears in Doom Patrol first, but they're not related.
