I'm all for it. I love events done well. Juts not 6 months of every year like Marvel seem to be fond of doing.
Did you forget Infinite Crisis, And Blackest Night? Let's not act like DC is prefect in it's execution of event series. Of their recent events I enjoyed Infinite Crisis the most but even that was had glaring plot holes and annoyances. Heck I enjoyed the build up of Infinite Crisis much more than the actual series itself.

I imagine Batman will be allowed to continue independently due to Snyder's obvious plan, with this Trinity story straddling Action Comics, Detective Comics, Wonder Woman, Justice League & a limited series.

Batman: control freak millionare who enjoy punching people pushed to commit crimes by social circunstances or with deep psychological disturbance and in need of help. (Frank Miller was right!!)
Superman: redneck alien journalist, who is fighting forthe people against evil millionares.
    There you got conflict.
And which one would dare to hit a woman??

Anyone considered that this might be main Earth Trinity versus Earth-2 Trinity?

Actually, it would be nice if Marvel could steer clear of it too. But since they are like a coke addict when it comes to this stuff, let's hope DC doesn't become hooked.

I'm surprised that people are swallowing this speculation whole and not coming with other lines of speculation. Bleeding Cool gives no facts besides the rumor itself and other sites latch on. Now everyone will be in lockstep. C'mon people!!
I'm speculating that Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman won't be fighting each other. The main threat will be Pandora, Phantom Stranger and The Strange. These 3 sinners could be gathering armies to fight each other. If the Justice League is still together after "A Villain's Journey" they'll have to combat the "3" armies. Get it Trinity War! Hopefully the FCBD book will make everything clear.
And yes DC is doing a DCU event. They never said they wouldn't. They're allowing for the universe to build up, so it won't happen until 2013. I hope someone other than Johns or Morrison write this. Before Watchmen is an event of sorts itself anyways.

I really hope if this does happen it's in one of the other universes. (Actually might be cool if each DC summer Event for the next "52" years was a different universe.)

I would be very disappointed if an Event like this is being described actually happened in the main DCU. I believe the publishers need to get away from pushing Events & hype, and focus instead on quality and getting those books read.

There's a natural divide between Superman's socialist persona, and way of sticking up for the common man, and Batman's wealth and power. Wonder Woman is a rough sell because she's very foreign to both ideals. She has Superman's power and grace, but Batman's edge. I can't really see them all fighting each other though, unless it was something similar to Bruce's OMAC Project.

Does anyone think that this could be the Trinity versus everyone else?

Only in a world where comics are sold for free and money is not an option will publishers focus on story only. Events are stories too, they need to be as good as regular ongoings. Basically, every arc of every book should be an Event. Unfortunately, the mass of people don't treat it as such. The want "stories that matter". They want their continuity porn. The sales show how the people speak. They want the same characters on top of charts no matter if their books are good or not (looking at you Detective Comics and Batman: Dark Knight).
Asking the big 2 comics companies to stop making Events is like asking the big movie companies to stop making blockbusters. They'll laugh in your face while counting all the money they're making.

I see everyone is speculating about writers (which is very important), but no speculation on artists yet.

Any ideas/suggestions? Dale Keown maybe? Jae Lee? Phil Jimenez? Maybe somebody DC lured away from Marvel?
