Default Does Superman Ever Sleep In?

Look even if Supes never gets tired I've gotta think that sometimes he just wants to sleep in, have a lazy morning, make a bagel, drink some coffee and read the paper. Has he ever done this?

I can almost hear him saying, "sometimes the world has to save itself. Call somebody else for change will yeah? Call Batman. Oh it's daytime? Great...okay...I'll be right there.

He has nothing to sleep in for anymore. They took Lois away from him. lol

Point taken though he doesn't need Lois as excuse to sleep in. He should treat his self even if he is currently single.

He has done this in the Post-Crisis Universe. Which issue exactly? I'm not sure at the moment, but I know I've seen it. Sorry for the half-butt answer.

Do you mean 'have Superman be apathetic'? Then, no, he shouldn't.

If, however, you mean 'have Superman analyse a situation and determine that his presence isn't needed and then have that bagel and freshly squeezed orange juice', then that's fine ;)

I don't think he gets tired physically, but emotionally I'm sure there is a time where he heard an earthquake or something and was like " Let the league handle it" because he just got back from the future where he was fighting off an alien invansion.

Besides what is the worst that could happen to him? Angry letters. Bill Maher ripping on him.

I don't think he'd do that unless he knew for certain that they were on the job.

Take Final Crisis, for example - he went through the events of Beyond, saved Lois, got pulled into the craziness of Three Worlds and then arrived back on Earth to stop Darkseid.

He's not here to molly-coddle us, certainly, but when he's truly needed he will step up, no matter what he's just been through.

    Remember, it's:

    The Never-Ending Battle

    :)

I know, I was just kidding. I don't think he would ever just willingly pass of his duties on to someone else.

He slept through JMS's run. Even the Man of Steel couldn't stomach that.

Post Crisis, Clark could get by on an hour's worth of sleep while he was in college. By the time of his first battle with Doomsday, it was two hours. Most often, Clark won't be able to sleep in because his hearing will pick up something that will jolt him awake and send him out the window. The only time Clark has ever remotely done anything like that was when he was well and truly exhausted after an ordeal. At the end of "Time And Time Again", Clark was so worn out that he fell asleep while Lois massaged his shoulders and he was out like a light for hours. Likewise after "King Of The World", Clark was able to catch up on his sleep which had been tainted by Dominous and resulted in his staying awake for hours on end. During his energy powers phase, the situation varied since he was human while sleeping at night. But he wasn't depicted as sleeping in. In fact, for a while, he would get up early in the morning to practice using his new powers.

I get that he doesn't get tired so technically he doesn't have to sleep in. My point is that even Superman deserves a morning to sleep in. Plus he's gotta sleep sometime.

More to the point if he saved every single person that needed saving he'd never sleep. Hell he'd never stop moving. If you follow that through I suppose you could say Supes does in fact fact let some people die so he can sleep in and eat a bagel.

There's always some crisis or other.

Superman did hand over his superman metropolis duties when he went on his honeymoon with Lois.

Clark Kent is Superman's way of relaxing. To regular humans, everyday life is stressful and full of worry, but for Kal, it's a vacation. He doesn't have to worry about having enough money for groceries or buying a car--he can simply enjoy relating to his friends on a human level, but always ready to save lives should the need arise. Even if people treat Clark Kent badly or take advantage of his genial nature, I doubt it would cause Superman much distress.
