I think PIS is necessary for stories, but there are varying levels of PIS. When it completely takes you out of the story to the extent where you can't do anything but say "that just doesn't make sense" that is when it's having a negative affect on a story. Deathstroke vs the JLA is an example of this. You can have a PIS fight that would still be interesting.

To give an example of tolerable PIS, when a mind controlled Superman fights Wonder Woman. He mostly dominates her, but there are hints of PIS like WW's inner thoughts saying she is holding back. Looking back on it, one would think "she'd need to go all out just to survive" but it didn't take you out out of the story. However, later on when Supes is specifically using his super hearing to listen for her and she still sneaks up on him and bashes him on the ears, that's when I was going "what??!".

This doesn't mean it's impossible to write a PIS-less story, but it takes a lot of work, especially when dealing with multiple famous characters. The problem is people are so worried about not making one character look vastly better then the other..but then you run into all kinds of problems with that type of outlook.

With Avengers vs X-Men, you are definitely running into the problem of trying not to make one team look way better then the other. Honestly, I just haven't been able to get much into Marvel lately.

Like in the Hulk vs Thor movie that had Hulk curbstomping Thor and the Asgardians. I'm all for throwing logic out the window and enjoying a good comicbook fight but that movie was beyond insulting.

Eh, see now..I sort of disagree. For me, I think when it comes to things like other universes, etc. you can take some liberties. Thor from that universe just might not of been as powerful as the one we are used to(just like the Ultimates version). He showed no super speed, no dimension dumping(I think) basically just shooting lightning and using his strength. If we'd had him established as having all the powers of 616 Thor, yeah that's bunk.

Also, in the case of the film, Banner had been separated from Hulk and was just pure rage and power.

I'd buy that if not for the comment of said writer of that movie who flat out admit that they aren't really fans of Thor and just used that movie as an excuse to showcase how cool Hulk is. Yes Ultimate Thor isn't as powerful as 616 but at least writers like Millar, Hickman, and even Loeb respect Thor enough that he doesn't come off as a punk

Are you kidding? She is probably the one causing Scott to want this in the first place. Girl is obviously trying to score a threesome with implications of bestiality, bisexuality, ephebophilia, incest, twincest, and screwing on top of Jean Grey's corpse.

Seriously, they're going to have to mosaic her entire lower body for the duration of this crossover crisis.

Makes me glad I stopped reading X-Men comics. If this is true then I liked Emma From Generation X by a writer who actually knows how to write her

Well I was mostly being facetious, due to how kinky she was. ISTR hearing that someone got her cooperation by threatening to destroy all the fetish shops in the world.

And thus, the X3 movie retroactively becomes comics canon.

Still I wouldn't put it past Marvel on actually doing that. If they can have Gwen Stacy willingly screw Norman

Emma doesn't seem too overjoyed with the way things are shaking out, but she's still following Scott's lead so far.

IIRC, Gwen was originally portrayed as the school bicycle, going after Peter for being the only guy that she hasn't tumbled.

Haven't read the comic yet, but what was Scarlet Witch doing during all of this? Magik? Emma Frost? Dr. Strange? These are the ones that really have the power for Insta-Winning.

Is Scarlet Witch even still around? Last I saw, she like depowered and mind wiped or... something.

Dr. Strange got depowered to near-irrelevance, so I doubt he'll be of much help.

    Magik... isn't she still dead?

Emma Frost is following Scott's lead. Not sure how she can be of much help against the Phoenix, really. Though, she should be able to jack up a great deal of the Avengers.
