To be fair, a wide angled optic blast would probably knock a blocking Cap on his ass, by way of blasting off his legs and any other part of his burly physique that can't fit behind a shield in the time it takes Cyke to think "open visor".

Clearly, he was using his expert knowledge of geometry to hit the shield at just the right angle to cancel out the kinetic cancel.

Also how Dr Strange was nice enough to not use that one bit of magic he can actually do and make a big illusion where the X-Men thought Hope was still in her room whilst in actuality the Avengers just stuck her in a quinjet and aimed it at space.
