You can't have one without the other. Morrison and Lobdell are basically tied, they switch back and forth depending on what I read last.

    1) Morrison
    2) Lobdell
    3) Milligan
    4) Whedon
    5) Claremont

Honorable mention: Carey, Ellis, Gillen. Aaron has wrote her well, but not enough.

    Worst:

    1) Fraction
    2) Chris Yost

Gen X was how I got into the comic version of X-Men. Emma kicked Leech in the face in the first issue I read. It was just love. It was even awesomer when I learned she killed some silly brat's horse. I love what Morrison did as well. I guess like with Cyclops, I don't really seperate her by writters or stories.

But if pushed come to shove Morrison, Gen X then Whedon to a point. Gillen's def working his way on that list for me too.

    Idk about Gillen's Emma sometimes.

"Assemble with your assemble friends" made me cringe.
Sorry Brevoort, Alonso and Lowe, but Jean Grey is a classic character. She'll outlive you regardless. :)

I think that line is funny because it was a diss on Storm rather because Emma said it. Truth be told anyone could've said it, Emma is just the most obvious to be catty. I would've loved it if Danger said it or in her default, Magik.

Telling Namor to hold her arm was priceless. I also like her kicking men in the unmentionables line. He isn't the best Emma writer, but its a major step up from "It was Scott's plan all along" Fraction Emma.

Any Emma except Gen X, that bitch couldnt dress for shit ( current one is rapidly joining that one in the " getting dressed in the dark" category).

Now back to #gossipgirl. Shit's hot.

Morrison Emma, followed by some of Whedon's work with her character. I appreciate he cemented them officially as a committed couple by the end of his run. My only problem was writers afterward mistook that as a cue to make her "nicer" and more sympathetic, all around. Which is not what made the character wildly popular in the first place.

It's so unrealistic. A relationship with Summer's would turn you into more of a bitch not the other-way round.

I know, right? And they both enjoyed each others' roles in their relationship. Scott the dickhead boy scout and Emma the manipulative bitch. Somehow they I feel they work better. Jean's too alpha for Scott, and while Emma is a dominant she likes to play and placate her boy toys as part of the relationship ritual.

which emma, huh...there is no which...

marvel created the character, writers interpret/portray -- some better than others...

i look at the entire character dynamic...

    THAT defines a character...

That's very well put. It's hard to isolate any given writer's take on a character when most-often they are building on or off of the work of the proceeding writer. Claremont created Emma Frost so he automatically has the best take, but the directions Lobel and Morrison et al. have taken and developed her as a character both have positive and negative qualities. Personally, I like Morrison's take on the character - especially when she decides to go to Tiffany's and have herself appraised.

I agree. Except Marvel owns the character, Claremont/Byrne created her. The rest interpret/portray and develop her.
