I like the cover as well. And this is a two-part story to boot. In the meantime, you should check out Amazing Spider-Man #684 with Silver Sable who might have an interest with Spider-Man as well. So Carol isn't the only one who wants a mutual friendship with Spider-Man.

Oh i am. Definitely not missing a single issue of ASM right now. Its just way too good. Seems like they were setting up slightly with sable in the two parter from 678-679. I woulnd't mind seeing that. I do think it would be cool to have Peter date a non civvy.

I did enjoy the date with pete and carol in ms. marvel 47 (also another awesome cover)

    RIP Spider-Man

I would love to see these types of superheroine friendships expanded to include the She-Hulk and Spider-Woman as well.

I actually think that Carol could be a great bro to Peter, his wingman if you will. Marvel should make that happen.

Really I think we're all in agreement that we want to see more Carol and Peter period.

Heck maybe Slott'll give us an issue of Pete and all his bros on a night out on the town - Johnny, Matt and Carol.

I agree, Carol as one of the guys would be a fun role for her.

Of course... then Slott would have to fill in the blanks for us on what happened between Johnny and Carol in Vegas...

But seriously, I like them as friends. As a romantic pairing, I find Carol/Peter bizarre.

I will however agree with what's been said already in this thread. I cannot imagine a worse time for it to happen. She has a new solo title. She needs to establish herself a solid fanbase for it without hanging on to Spidey's coattails.

Carol & Spidey = DCAU Hawkgirl & Flash, in my opinion. Fun, but while Spidey could do a lot worse, I think they're better as friends.

This is a horrid idea and simply bad for the community.

You do realize out of the past 37 or so issues of ASM, 25 have featured Spidey fighting alongside other super-heroes. (DD, Avengers, FF, Avengers Academy, Black Cat) Even more if you also include the issues where he teams up with Anti-Venom and Wraith (heroes?), and include Silver Sable and Madame Web's appearance in the "I Killed Tomorrow" storyline or all the heroes who appear in the dream sequence of issue 655. Plus, he's going to have Johnny Storm as a roommate for an undetermined amount of time. It's hardly been a solo-title these days.

1.) They don't have to spend the whole 24/7 together, Carol's got her own life and career to attend to, and Pete has his job at Horizon.

2.) I'm not sure if Carol's ID is public, but if it isn't then this is a non-issue. If it IS public, then any man Carol dates is apparantly going to be suspected as a superhero by your logic. Not to mention that ANY boyfriend she dates would be a target by supervillains looking for revenge. Might as well be the guy who has "spider senses" and can bench press a car!

(And since Peter and Carol both have ongoings, it makes it all but impossible to coordinate. Never mind that Donna was just a supporting character that the Wonder Woman comic wanted back at the time of her relationship with Kyle.)
Both books are edited by the same man, Wacker, so the different umbrellas shouldn't really be a problem. Writing is not nearly the herculean task people and "how to" books make it out to be. (They honestly don't have 5 minutes in the day to talk to the other writer on the phone? It's not like they're doctors or firefighters!!!) Nor should it be any more difficult to coordinate then when the same character appear in a solo-title (Amazing) a satellite title (Avenging) and 2 team books. (FF, Avengers) And that's not including his guest appearances in other titles, one shots and so forth. (Rarely do any of the various plots line up, but the majority of readers let it slide.)

Ok, I feel responsible for this debate seeing as I kinda sorta suggested this thread in the first place.

Still, I think Carol/Peter should be explored a lil more than it has. Even if it's only an issue of Avengers where they're alone with no other teammates around and have a talk about their feelings. Doesn't have to lead anywhere. It'd just be nice to have closure on the subject for us as fans

I think it is. She was ProReg and a member of the public MA team. She's also been, at certain times, more a soldier of the military then superhero.

They couldn't even keep Spider-Man's ID a secret from Captain America in Avenging Spider-Man (Slott didn't want Cap to know Spidey's ID). Just because the books have the same editor doesn't mean there wouldn't be problems. Human errors exist.

Really, a relationship between Peter and Carol would make it seem like Carol was riding Spidey's coattails.
The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.
