    Interesting situation we have here
in one way some of The Mighty thor's stink could wash on to JiM
or some of Journey into mystery's brillance can rub onto TMT

And look who the co-artist is: Carmine Di Giandomenico, who was deliciously outstanding in Johnny Storm's story in Fantastic Four #600. I'm confident he can do myth-art with ease.
Johnny Storm was dead; who is this resurrected Johnny Storm?

It seems like it'll be a great story. I just hope that it turns to be as epic as they sell it!

My guess is it's Davis on Thor and Di Gianodomenico on JIM. Can't wait to see his take on Leah, Loki and Thori.

and thats the thing mighty thor has been pretty mediocre/subpar while JiM has been phenomenal

I've been wondering what Surtur has been up to since Fear Itself, and it really wouldn't make sense to tell that story without The Mighty Thor playing a part. This story sounds amazing. I seriously love everything I hear about it- the gender politics, political drama, Sif, Val and Hela playing a big role, SURTUR, Loki as Nick Fury, the art.

The last few lines of the interview have me anxious already though.

In fact, the long-form story Gillen is telling in "Journey Into Mystery" might just become completely redefined. "I'd rather not say exactly where we'll be at in 'JIM' after 'Everything Burns,' but we are getting near the end," Gillen said. "Probably the best way to put it is, after 'Everything Burns,' nothing will ever be the same for Loki again."

Yeah, it sounds like Di Giandomenico is on JIM, as Gillen talks about working closely with him and he's already doing the Exiled crossover.

    Thumbs up

Okay, this is starting to come together for me now. About a month ago when the solicits for JIM #639-640 came out I speculated that, "So has the British Subconscious become more modern, to the point that it gave rise to some sort of post-industrial steampunk mythology that is vying to supplant the swords-n-sorcery mythology represented by the Arthurian characters and traditional gods of Otherworld?"

This was based on Gillen's statements in an earlier interview that, "With 'the Manchester Gods,' it doesn't work like that. It's one of those places where I've gone quite out of the way to make it clear that I'm talking about something else, which will make immediate and obvious sense the second any of the artwork appears. I don't want to spoil it too much, but it's the second of my big stories riffing on the idea of the emergence of whatever the 19th century was. Obviously the other half is 'Sinister' (from 'Uncanny X-Men') and 'Sinister'is a very hard critique, but 'Manchester Gods' is something else." The cover to JIM #640 showed Loki and Leah going up against what seemed like some fictional version of post-Industrial-Revolution Manchester built upon mechanical spider legs.

Now the promo art from "Everything Burns" shows what appears to be those same mechanical spider legs fighting on the side of the Vanir against the Asgardians. Do the Manchester Gods form an alliance with Surtur to burn Asgard in order to fuel some kind of industrialization engine? Gillen says, "Loki is a trickster and the Nine Realms is his playground. Hela is ruler of the dishonored dead. Surtur, though, is change personified. He sees the universe as fuel and that's an important idea because you need fuel for things to burn. There's a lot more, but I don't want to spoil the point of the story."

And then in the Newsarama interview, he says, "In terms of influences... Well, it's a story that's equally concerned with ancient history and the effect of the new."

Damn, this cross-over-I contend that the books are set far enough apart to be a cross-over-seems to be getting a lot of attention. If there's one thing I'm happy for Marvel to for down our throats, it's JIM.

    Can somebody clarify for me.

Do I actually have to pick up Thor to enjoy the JiM portion of this? Is it like Exiled where each issue across books is a chapter?
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

I'm a bit anxious about it, too.
