    Default Pre-order Captain Marvel!

If you have even a modicrum of interest in the upcoming Captain Marvel series, I hummbly request you pre-orderr it from your local store. I have a few reasons why:

    1) Pre-orders, especially on first issues, can make-or-break a book's chance of success.

    2) Captain Marvel might not be your cup of tea, but it's worth at least a look? It might surprise you..

    3) Captain Marvel will be Marvel's next attempt at promoting a female-driven book. It's success might prompt Marvel to reevaulate other female characters for primetime. So supporting Captain Marvel isn't just about that one book, but any female Marvel character in the future. For people that want another Spider-Woman or X-23 or Valkyrie or Black Widow or Storm book, supporting Captain Marvel means supporting them.

    So contact your store today!!

Well, it seems Marvel will promote certain male characters regardless of how many times their solo books don't sell. In fact, the few solo female titles released lasted longer than Hawkeye and Moon Knight, yet they rarely get a shot. Sometimes I wonder if many people at Marvel just have a preference for male characters in general. Sounds hard, and I don't mean it in an angry way, but it is a possible reason of many!

Well, I am pre-ordering this. I have also told my LCS that I will buy any superheroine book from Marvel, or at least give it a try for an issue.

Supposedly Captain Marvel won't be the only one.

I would love to know more about the premise of Captain Marvel. We already know that Gambit will be thieving items from all over the world and even outer space. Rogue will be making some appearances. With Hawkeye, we know he will be dealing with everyday life and fighting street-level crime in New York. Kate Bishop is in the supporting cast.

What do we know about Captain Marvel so far, besides her ever-changing hairstyle? Even the premise seems somewhat vague. Airplanes will play a role, perhaps?

My girlfriend is a girl, and I've been slowly getting her into comics (we had a nice talk/read last night filling her in on AvX). Of course I'll be buying this for her. Heck, I might enjoy it as well.

I'm actually really excited for this. I really think it'll be a great thing for Marvel.

It's more like orders on #3 & #4 that are the benchmark. The first couple of issues are usually high anyway but any major drop off after that is what can really kill series.

That's all the reason I need to not pre-order. I want this book to fail.

Can I ask why? I'm just curious.

I remember S.W.O.R.D. failed to gain traction on subsequent orders because orders on the first issue were so low. It was practically known it was going to fail from the first issue. If it gets cancelled by #5, it doesn't matter what the orders are on #3 and #4. But yes, it would be nice if people made sure they pre-ordered the first few issues.

I'm going to. And I have absolutely no history with anything about the book. I've never read a previous Ms. Marvel book, nor a Captain Marvel book. What has sold me on trying it has been DeConnick's bluntness in her interviews about it regarding the pre-ordering system and whatnot.

So, yeah, I'm sure it'll be a $2.99 book, so I'll give it a try to see if it can win me over.

    Because I'm a horrible person.

Also, I hate almost everything I've seen and heard about this comic and what they're doing with the character. I have no respect for DeConnick or anyone else associated with the book, and I just want the book to go away fast... so Ms. Marvel can go back to being Ms. Marvel again.

lol at caring more about a female character than the female creator that's actually writing the book.
