Irene Adler: “I would have you right here on this desk until you begged for mercy twice.”
Sherlock: “I’ve never begged for mercy in my life.”
Irene: “Twice.”
You read it correctly. There was quite a lot of fuss over here when it happened.
Here's the original thread. http://forums.comicbookresources.com...-21-*Spoilers*
I believe the editor for that issue was Tom Brevoort, who's let some other mischaracterizations slide before as well in New Avengers and Avengers: X-Sanction.
That scene hasn't been brought up since, so you're best off just pretending it never happened.
I sympathise with you. We X Men fans have seen Prof. X and Cyclops turn into gruesome parodies of themselves now it seems they're starting on the Avengers. And Joe Q claims to be a 'huge fan' of the Avengers. Marvel must be on some type of drug it's the only excuse I can think of. Unless it's something to do with Disney!
It was written by Ellis. Just be glad that's all Steve was doing.
Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker, Professor X, Mar-Vell, Richard Rider- Bring Them Back!!!
