Speaking of more health complications, two people in my division got appendicitis. The two incidents are weeks apart from each other. A 40-ish woman got it a few weeks ago and has been out on sick leave for 2-3 weeks. Then, yesterday, a 20-ish y.o. co-worker decided to leave work early and go to the ER after a day of severe pains and *boom* she had to have her appendix removed, too. What the hell?

Scary shit! I know it's irrational, but I always think appendicitis is lurking around the corner because my sister had it - and then a subsequent awful removal at a teaching hospital where they wouldn't do an endoscopic surgery because the residents needed traditional appendectomy experience.
It's wanting to know that makes us matter. Otherwise we're going out the way we came in. That's why you can't believe in the afterlife. Believe in the after, by all means, but not the life. Believe in God, the soul, the spirit, the infinite, believe in angels if you like, but not in the great celestial get-together for an exchange of views. If the answers are in the back of the book I can wait, but what a drag. Better to struggle on knowing that failure is final. - Hannah, Arcadia

Ugh! Yeah, definitely scary. I didn't see her at 3PM when she left, but I knew she was struggling with pain from the moment she got to work at 8.30am and possibly the previous night.

At this point, everyone expects her to be out for at least a week and a half.

If you can figure out how to re-fold the map. They never look half as neat after one use when I have to refold them.

I just had dinner with the AIDS outreach center team at a local, tiny restaurant and Wim Wenders was having dinner with 3 friends at the next table!!

We struggled against apartheid in South Africa, supported by people the world over, because black people were being blamed and made to suffer for something we could do nothing about; our very skins. It is the same with sexual orientation. It is a given.

Just went for a walk through the historic homes neighborhood, I love gussied up Victorians.
What have I always believed? That, on the whole, and by and large, if a person lived properly, not according to what any priests said, but according to what seemed decent and honest inside, then it would, at the end, more or less, turn out ok.

Victorians are lovely. Gingerbread trim rocks. I love neoclassical architecture, but that means going to the UK or Boston for the most part.

While I don't want to draw any conclusions from the misogyny shown by a significant number of posters on CBR, I do wonder

are they unsexed/virgins due to the misogyny or has their inability to have a satisfactory sex life led to their misogyny?

in any case, I am glad they have a low possibility of mating and producing offspring.

I would say this....you want women, women don't want you, so you get mad at them and lash out and call them whores playing Xbox online

and that opens up the question of 'why' don't women want you?

Personally, I think it's that women don't want them because of the misogyny/low self-esteem/lack of social skills, but I freely admit I don't have any statistical studies to back that up except maybe responses on heartless-bitches.com

I would add that I also think it's the same sort of thing for women who can't find men who want them.
