    In order....

I tried out for the NFL. Or NFL Networks, anyway. Went well, but don't they all?

Then I got a call that I nailed something I interviewed for previously. Pays really well, just the hours are kind of minimal.

Then I finally got all the official stuff for a writing gig that technically I found out I got on Thursday, but it took a little bit for me to get all the information about it.

Then I had another job interview, for another gig that sounds like I nailed it, but again, probably pays little.

So two interviews where I was vying for a job I didn't have, two discussions about jobs I actually got, just don't do enough.

Because it's a discount. But I went in having stolen their women from a while back.

I dunno, not saying for sure it's racism, and there were a bunch of other potential motivating factors as well, but not saying it wasn't, either. If only so I can say I was being discriminated against.

It's not often us white folk can honestly say we've (maybe) been discriminated against based on the color of our skin, gotta play that shit up.

I'm watching Harlan County USA, the classic documentary about the miners strike in Kentucky in the early 1970s. I saw it when I was a kid, but I wanted to see it again after Justified Season 2 (and all the coal mine plots of that season - Justified being set in Harlan County and all). Tivo finally recorded it (one of the neat things about Tivo is putting a movie name into the "auto-record Wish List" function and then just forget about it until the movie pops up X months after you put the search in).

In any event, wow, this is some sad shit.

Yeah, the way Raylan's stepmom gets killed. But that's partially why I preferred the first and third seasons.

So how long can I get away with missing the point?

First course: tofu mousse, two kinds of caviar, shallot, and salmon on fresh Roberta's bread.

Second: brazillian lobster rolls w homemade pickled celery and potato salad w capers and duck cracklins.

Third: three kinds of heirloom carrots, turnips, trumpet royale mushrooms cooked w serrano on arugala

Yes he was very enthusiastic. He did speak about loving his time on the Black Panther book. If I remember everything correctly, he said it was his best job ever. (Though I could have mixed things up in my recollection.)

SOOOOO good. I only gave him the instructions that there be no dairy and hinted that I like duck. I almost mentioned my love for lobster rolls, but didn't ...yet he somehow knew that I loved delicious things anyway.

And all for a good cause!
