RITA'S CXLIII: You’re Gonna Have to Serve Somebody

Man, OKCupid can be such a minefield. Here's my actual train of thought just now:

"Wow, she's super-cute. Wants to do social work; that's cool. Likes Al Franken, big plus OH SHIT MOVEMENT ATHEIST ABORT ABORT ABORT!"

Ha ha ... reminds me of this deeply religious girl a cousin tried setting me up with. The few conversations we had ...I could tell it was disaster.

Her - "So what church do you attend ?"

Me - "The church of Richard ...I attend every Sunday ."

Her - "The church of Richard ? Is that a joke ?"

Of course I try and be nice and tell her it is a joke and I'm not a real religious guy but believe in my own way. Of course she goes on a long religious deal and how she attends and that the man she ends up married too will. (of course what scared me off from her was by our 3rd conversation online she wanted to be couple and I was like...we haven't even met in person yet...or went on a date...lol)

Of course being a nice guy I keep her on my FB for the comedy updates of falling quick for men , gets engaged and then the break ups happen.

While entering one of our libraries I was broadsided. My Jeep is probably totaled. Both passenger side doors are seriously damaged and the post is crumpled. Fortunately no one was hurt (and the other vehicle showed no damage, the airbag didn't even go off) but my cell phone died as it was thrown across the cabin. I worked at being calm, since I was due to give an orientation, but now that I am home I am rather shaken.


So, how was your day?

I'm glad you are okay. And you held your shit together for an orientation after that? You are a superstar!

Thanks. It was so fast I didn't have time to be scared. But man, I was shaken when I saw my jeep. Really happy I had my window rolled down or I am certain my head would have slammed right into it.

Yeah I mean , she seems like a nice looking , naive type person who was married once and wants that. I live 100+ miles away and I was like , lets meet when I'm in town and go out to eat or something. She must have thought this was a turn down as she quickly drifted from me lol.

My one cousin did apologize to me over it and thought she would be a good match for me. She never guessed the girl was that kooky .

Pkay, today is a public holiday.

Well for everybody except me it's a public holiday.

I get to come to work because as the boss, I don;t qualify for overtime.

But public holidays are normally fairly quiet so I should at least be able to get caught up on a bunch of paperwork.

Anyway, first thing that happens is I drop my tablet screen first on the way to work, the screen is completely broken and I'm several hundred dollars out of pocket.

Anyway I get to work and all day I have people calling, people looking at stock, two guys in the store for literally about 5 hopurs looking at Magic cards.

And virtually nobody buys a thing, it's an absolutely miserable day for sales and I've had to stay back late to even get close ot completing my task list.

Plus my knee is killing me and I have no idea why.

Besides which I have the flu - and I managed to leave my medicine at our other store yesterday and not even most Chemists are open today. so tonight I will likely be coughing my guts up and struggling ot breathe. Which is going to make for a fun night.

I'm trying to hang on to that bright and happy outlook I was talking about the other day but it's getting harder and harder.
