    Default Venom and Brains

We've seen Eddie Brock/Venom yelling about wanting to eat people's brains for years. I was just curious if he ever actually DID eat anyone's brain, or if any of the other Venom hosts ever did? Have any of the other syms ever tried?

Why would Venom even want to eat someone's brain? Or was it just a fear tactic kind of thing?

I'm not entirely sure about brains but Mac Gargan apparently ate squirrels.

Brains are very good for. High in protein. Now eat up!

Eddie wasn't much of a brains guy, the symbiote became more vicious with Eddie but it didn't have the Mac Gargan or Ultimate venom loss of control and eat everything like it does now.

I always hoped there would be a story about how the venom symbiote devolved or evolved or something, maybe the more people it was passed down or moved from host to host the more it changed. Or at least an explanation why the Gargan and current symbiotes eating habits were so much more extreme. The thing never got there with Pete

So Eddie Brock never actually tossed back a few brains then? He sure seemed to talk about it a lot.

Basically I was wondering if it was the suit making him want them, or if it was just Eddie generally acting nuts.

I guess if Gargan was eating squirrels there is some argument for the symbiote having some sort of odd craving for meat..

During the Venom: The Hunger miniseries (which is excellent, by the way), Brock's symbiote develops a chemical imbalance that compels it to actually eat brains. Brock isn't having any of that, so it separates from him and goes out hunting for grey matter, and does indeed actually eat a bunch of brains. Eventually, Brock finds that he can control the suit's cravings with chocolate.

It doesnt develop a chemical imbalance it what it does, it feeds of some brain stuff and Eddie's brain ran out of the stuff because the Symbiote ate it all. Later in the book some scientist found out that he could replace or create more of that chemical by eating chocolate.

But before that Venom threaten to eat body parts all the time but never did. He started eating body parts when symbiote was being mind-controlled during Thunderbolts. After that story ended them Marvel writers for some reason liked the idea of Venom actually eating body parts so they continued on but they never provided an explanation what was up with all the eating.

Cool thanks, that's the info I was looking for. Had a friend asking me about this and I told him I'd post it up here.
