It's weird. Fraction's stories are usually very fast-paced. It's just his Marvel work that's slow. And he's far from the only writer for which this is true. Evidince suggests that Fraction's perceived slowness is just hiom toning down his own style to conform to an edotorially mandated house style.

I mean, this is the company that chased Geoff Johns back to DC by mandating him that he padded out every arc on his Avengers run to 6 issues.

I agree with the above. This series will read like an awesome TV show, I get the feeling.

Hawkeye and Fraction seem like a pretty great match. There are few characters to which Fraction is better suited (Iron Fist being one of them), and Aja is just amazing. He's definitely the main draw for me.

Say whay you want about him on Thor, Iron Man or Uncanny X-Men but seriously....

Just read "Immortal Iron Fist" and realize how awesome of a thing this actually is.
However, the Thor example doesn't work as fans liked his Ages of Thunder but his Mighty Thor not so much

Agreed to an extent but some of the decisions that get made despite numerous fails have to make you wonder.

Dan slott doesnt write this way. Neither does remender, gillen, gage or yost.Do you have a link to this geoff johns quote by the way? Hasnt every green lantern story been 5-7 issues? You know, "written for trade"? Actually i can think of one, the first orange lantern arc, which was four issues. In fact id venture to say most of his dc stuff has been a 5-7 issue arc, much like most marvel stuff.

Yost certainly has been known to. Gage too.

Yes, of course I can link to a ten year old interview[/sarcasm]

They were 2-3 issues long in the beginning of his run, the first few years. It's only with the Sinestro Corps War and later that we got longer arcs. His JSA run from around the same tie he did Avengers was a nice melange of longer tales, 2-3 issue stories, and one-shots.

I would argue that the Brubaker part of that equation was what made the books sing, but I'm probably wrong.

I mean I feel bad for this title in my perspective
its only a few things with the current Hawkeye that is bugging me
new costume, fact that it will probably take place in new york, been pushed in our faces because of a movie thats been bugging me
I have no qualms with Fraction IMO he is doing great on Iron man, Defenders will probably get my money when Jamie McKelvie is a regular on the title because I love the cast. But his Thor is bad and hopefully the crossover won't muck up the awesomeness of JiM

Brubaker has admitted that most of the heavy lifting on Iron Fist was handled by Fraction.

Anyway, Fraction got on Hawkeye because he had a pitch that editorial liked. The end. What a stupid question.

I will admit, as much as I am "meh" on parts of his Iron Man run, The Order was an underrated book.

And Iron Fist was month after month of pure awesome. Why it didn't last is beyond me.

I mean you can't do any more for the guy than give him a couple of high profile movies and a hugely hyped new title riding on the back of an event, one he wrote. Yet still he sheds readers.

So why the hell did Marvel give him a Hawkeye book. I mean are they completely incapable of accepting they are wrong about their 'architects' that they have to ruin one book after another's chances in a futile attempt to legitimise their decisions.

I mean movie aside, Hawkeye has been a tough sell at best. That was even when he looked like Hawkeye instead of Ultimate Hawkeye. Who'se recent series ended up at 23k and that was written by Hickman who people generally seem to like.

This is what frustrates me about Marvel the most. This architect thing. Which seems to be either giving their mates the choice projects or just catering to their personal tastes. Neither of which should wash with however is running the show at Marvel. It's like the kids been left home alone?

Uhg I hate to be that negative but I completely agree. Christ. My thought process was New Hawkeye book? cool, WHAT Kate Bishop is it in?!? I AM THERE... Whose the Author? oh god no... never mind.
