There will soon come a day where negative posters everywhere read a Sabrewulf thread and say to themselves, "Is that how I come off? Screw that."
And they will find something positive to say for once in their lives.
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!
If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.
I like Fraction just fine: loved Iron Fist, loving Defenders (he and Brian K. Vaughn are the only people whoíve ever written a Dr. Strange I could stand). Not a big fan of Thor or Iron Man as characters, so I havenít read those runs. I even liked Fear Itself, probably because I bought it as a collected edition and read it all at once, vs. with a month in-between. Needless to say, Iím good with Fraction, Iím good with Aja, Iím good with Hawkeye. Iím even good with Hawkeyeís new costume.
The problem I have is making him a street-level type hero. I think Hawkeye works best when heís the regular guy in anything-but-regular circumstances. I think thatís the reason the two best solo-esque books for him were McCannís Hawkeye and Mockingbird and the old Mark Gruenwald miniÖin both he was just a guy with a bow and trick arrows, but he was up against all kinds of craziness with super-assassins, ghosts, even a band of deadly jugglers. This just makes him seem like heís going to be fall somewhere between Daredevil and the Punisher. Thatís not the type of Hawkeye story I really want to read.
There's no sense in nonsense when the heat's hot.
There are four stages of matter. Solid. Liquid. Gas & Don't. It's science.
I am a male. Deal with it.
'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."
Fraction wrote a very good story with Clint and Kate back in the Young Avengers Presents series. If he can re-capture even half of the chemistry (non-romantic chemistry, of course) between the two that he captured in that tale, then this will be made completely of "win".
Marvel has become so Hollywood. You could have guys who are the greatest pitchers yet are mediocre writers. Yet great creators who are not good pitcher or are not interested at pitching. Hence why great creators do not work at Marvel.
Kurt Busiek Says:"Best Avengers Run, Steve Englehart's run in the 1970s. With Roy Thomas's run that preceded it close behind, and the Conway/Shooter/Michelinie run that followed close behind that
