Default Can You Think Of Any Good Story-Driven Idea For Merging The 616 And UU?

It seems that the Ultimate U has gone through a heckuva lot of reboots lately so I was just wondering if there would be any good way to save the characters we love if it ever goes the way of the dodo. Should they do like they did with the Age of Apocalypse and have refugees make their way to the 616 or maybe do like DC did and have the two universes combine? Any other ideas?

Well if you really demand dimensions combined, then you go with Franklin Richards and the Fantastic Four territory. However say Ultimate Marvel was tanking in sales and whatnot, i'd simply rather appreciate the good stories i got to enjoy, not demand Ultimate X characters crossing over or so.

I agree with Drz. If the Ultimate Universe had to go away I'd rather all the titles wrap up with a big "The End" on the last page. If Sam Humphries calling it Marvel on HBO is an accurate analogy, I'd say give them a worthy series finally.

However, if a mandate came down and said, get these characters to 616 somehow I would think the story would be as simple as having the crisis the Watchers foretold destroy the universe while a few characters escape using some of Reed's old portal tech. Throw in some heroic sacrifices of the characters that overlap too much with their 616 counterparts and you've got yourself a story.

To clarify: ULTIMATE MARVEL HASN'T HAD REBOOTS. They are relaunches.

    The difference:

In fiction a REBOOT means to discard previous continuity and begin anew, like Batman Begins which is not a sequel to Batman & Robin.

A relaunch is when you make something available again. This usually occurs after a series is ended or cancelled, and the new volume starts. Example, Ultimate Spider-Man #133 and Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man #1 (2009 series).

IMO, just merge the universes if u go that way. Plenty of Reality Warpers around who can just that. Maybe use the Zodiac Key.

Well i guess you can certain characters just appear in the 616 universe because they were already there like Miles.

If UU ever gets canceled, I'd want it to end in some epic crossover where all the heroes and villains fight valiantly but ultimately lose. Maybe Earth is destroyed by Gah Lak Tus or an Alien Invasion, or maybe the entire UU is destroyed. Maybe they had to sacrifice the Earth to save the rest of the UU (or even sacrifice the UU to save the entire multiverse from some godlike being). All of the dead heroes (even Spidey and Wolvie) would somehow come back from Valhalla/Thor's head/whatever to fight this final battle only to die again alongside everyone else.

Granted, I would also want a small group of heroes to escape the UU and either live in the Marvel Universe or end up in some sort of multiverse team like The Exiles, but most of the heroes should die so that the UU has some sort of closure.

I would want the Ultimate Universe to end by a person named Galen to be the last person alive. Then he turns up being Galactus in 616 lol.

It would kind of suck if it just ended with everyone dying. I mean, I'd expect a few characters to die if they ever decided to end the line, but I'd rather they end it much like they did with 2099 and just sort of wrap the story up in a satisfying and creative way. I don't think just killing everyone is especially interesting and it's just too nihilistic and ending. Just end it like a tv show. Give the characters a good send off and leave it be.

I wouldn't want both universes to merge. I wouldn't mind one or two particularly unique versions (like Miles Morales or Fury) cross over, but, for the most part, just give it a big finale. Some characters die, some have happy endings, etc.

If somehow a merge/crossover brought back Ultimate Wolverine it would be worth it.

What if he didn't have claws and instead of fighting he hugged people? It'd be the same character from before but due to dimensional shifts it changed his personality? Would you still take it?

Merging the universes? In short: No. In long: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

The characters in each universe have fans respectively. You could not merge them without p*****g off a lot of fans of either universe. Myself personally, I would drop most Marvel books if they merged the Ultimate universe with 616.

BUT there is no need to merge the two so this point is moot.

Why end with such a pessimistic note however? Why not a happy ending instead? :*)

616 Doom decides he wants to kill a Reed Richards but wants to spare the 616 one. Searching through the records he discovers there is one alternate Reed Richards left, one who was initially assessed as being unworthy of notice ...
