It makes sense for Marvel to explore doing a sci fi movie. There has to be concern for people developing superhero movie fatigue. I mean Marvel alone has put out 6 superhero movies in the past 5 years, not to mention all the other movies from other companies. I have to wonder if they would tie the GotG movie in with the Avengers sequel in some way, or is the post credits scene in Avengers hinting towards the GotG movie?

Ugh.

I know that the Starlord, Gamora, et al team has its fans, but to me, the REAL Guardians of the Galaxy are Vance Astro, Charlie-27, Martinex, Yondu, Starhawk, Aleta, and Nikki! I would much rather see a movie (or an animated straight to video flick) starring this team. I'm surprised they haven't gotten a cartoon or something in all these years!

Yeah. It seems like the old team would be better material for interesting storylines too, having developed pasts and not being Surfer level and such.

Odd choice of characters to go with but I'm all for bringing the more obscure characters to mainstream audiences.

Maybe there's hope for a Daughters of the Dragon movie.

Yeah, cause the original Guardians are too mainstream, what with all the Vance Astro action figures and Charlie-27 lunchboxes .

I would like a live action movie based on the current team. Pulling of Groot and Rocket Raccoon though is a hefty challenge.

I have to wonder if they would tie the GotG movie in with the Avengers sequel in some way, or is the post credits scene in Avengers hinting towards the GotG movie?

I have been thinking the same thing. I think the common assumption is that the post credits scene was setting up the second Avengers movie but I think there is an outside chance its setting up a GotG movie.

end of spoilers modern GotG makes perfect sense. Connect it with the heroes they have established already. The OG Guardians might have a more streamlined story, but it would be less connected to the current Marvel cinematic universe.

I cant recall if it was this thread or another but somebody mentioned the Ents out of LotR so I changed my mind on Groot.

Rocket Raccoon however, Im just not sure how he would work in a live action movie. A Raccoon wearing clothes, totting a gun and talking? It would need some pretty special effects.

Yeah, Rocket Raccoon might seem a little tricky to pull off in a live action film. I think the best way is to just play it serious and hope the general audience will take a liking to the character. He is quite awesome, after all.

Get Ray Winstone or Jason Statham to do Rocky's voice.

I think GotG will need some big A-List starts though. Not relative unknowns like with Thor and Captain America. Some real Hollywood heavyweights who have in built fan bases. Like, Dwayne Johnson for Drax (if he can manage to play the stoic and grim type). Maybe someone like DiCaprio or Matt Damon for Peter Quill.

Rocky is cockney? Not what I imagined!

I think a GotG movie would be a harder sell to the public, than the Avengers, especially without the solo movies. A-List stars might help with that but I cant see Marvel going down that route. I would be down with Dwayne Johnson though.

It cant be Live action film because it will look cheap and very bad if it doesnt have Avengers type budget. Of course it wont have huge budget.


Racoon,Groot and cosmic powers is hard to make look good.

I think Groot and Rocket raccoon could both be convincingly done by the Jim Henson Creature Shop.
