IGN gave it a 6.0...............
Very true. I do recall a recent RHatO issue got a fairly high mark, with the comment it was the best issue to date. The previous issue had a higher score. All the critics have different tastes and they are wildly biased and prone to favouritism. The criteria don't seem to be consistent for more than one reviewer.
I think respect and nostalgia have a lot to with how much you enjoyed the art. I didn't, but I understand why many would. Perez is a legend. A hero of mine. He's earned some leeway.
On its own merits, the art wasn't so hot, though.

Goddamn, I'm tempted to make an entirely new appreciation thread for Silver Banshee alone! I love this super irish rockstar Siobhan lass! She's so cool and I love the relationship between her and Kara. She seems downright heroic in this, but I kept wondering if she'll be corrupted into turning into the villain we know that can whip on Kal and Kara on a regular basis. Either way, it's gonna be awesome, but I'm so in love with Siobhan and Kara becoming BFF, I kinda want her to stay hero!
CBR gave it a 4.5/5 saying:
When I reread it I will try and give more lavage to PerezThis relaunched "Supergirl" has eight issues behind it, but Supergirl still hasn't learned English, she doesn't have a home, and has only been able to have conversations with a handful of other characters, but the overall narrative doesn't feel decompressed or stretched out. Quite the opposite, in fact, and this issue is a splendid example of what "Supergirl" has to offer readers. Sure, every issue doesn't have Pérez art, but the density of the story, increased visually by Pérez's propensity to fill panels, is on par with the series. As a matter of fact, this issue serves as a nice introduction to readers looking for an in with the Kryptonian cousin of Superman.
I think it's pretty obvious at this point that Banshee is gonna be the one teaching Kara English with her "power of language" n all. Very cool!

At least we learn a little more about Kryptonian clothing:
It learns to adjust to you.
:D
Argh! I don't like the art illustrations by George Perez. I only hope that this is temporary and that Mahmud Asrar will be back. I wish they wouldn't change up the artist like this it is so very annoying. Story is great. Just don't like the art style of Perez.
