Supergirl #8 Preview and Discussion!

Always one of the best books month to month, often the best and this looks like another knockout. Asrar is a big reason for it but Perez looks fine here.

Okay, okay, I don't like spoiling things with these previews, but I'll look at one page...

Pretty good, not as good the Brave and the Bold issue with Supergirl and Hal but its pretty nice.

Yeah I loved Geroge's Kara in the Brave & the Bold teamups. I was wondering how her new "cool" look would translate since he has trouble drawing new designs. This isn't so bad! He totally misssed the mark on her haircut but this is fine.

Yeah. I really hate how those soldiers come across.

Yep, although I can't say I've ever been in the military with super powered people around, I have been in the military in real life, and those soldiers would not have acted like that.

Aside from that, they just watched this girl fight and beat a bunch of creatures who were whipping their butts, and they expect to be able to do anything against her? I was expecting the artwork to be the thing I liked least about this issue, but the artwork looks okay and the depiction of those soldiers for the sake of the story is making me cringe.

Yeah kinda reminds me of those idiot cops from Batgirl. Who the hell would act like that even under those kind of circumstances? Ah well, still looking forward to it.

Ok, I miss the pre-Flashpoint Supergirl, but I will admit that this Supergirl is growing on me.
Just wish she would get rid of the red crotch...

Once you get red crotch, it's really hard to get rid of.

Don't care if I get blasted George Perez's work here looks wonderful
and for a second I thought Kryptonian was going to be similar to Irish Gaelic for them to communicate

I like Perez's work here, though seriously Bob has never, ever been an ideal inker for Perez's pencils. I like this much more then the regular artist.

Issue #8 of Supergirl may have just made me a Supergirl fan. *sigh*

Decent fill-in from Perez, cool variation of Silver Banshee, neat new villain concept in Black Banshee ... and best of all, the niceness of Supergirl making a friend on Planet Earth, more of that culture shock experience (at least about how teenaged humans live in messy places) and some Indie NYC coffee house jams.

Perez rocked this issue.. does he have a unique style? Yes. So does Asrar.. some of the perspective shots in this were inspirational.. and there's no one that can put Perez in the back seat when it comes to composition. I'm more excited for World's Finest than I thought I'd be.. some of the promo-pin ups for that didn't look anywhere near as good as this finished work.

As for the story, two thumbs up. I loved the new take on SB and her Da.. Hope she's around as a regular character for a long time. STILL the best book out on the stands, love this series.
