Default Designing a new batman gadget. pros/cons???

For my final project in an introductory design class at IU we have to come up with a new gadget that could be implemented into the Batman comics or movies. I don't know too much about the batman comics and I was hoping to get some input on this idea. Let me know if you think it would be a cool idea to write into the batman stories or if it would detract from the larger scheme of Batman.

Basically the idea stems from Google's recent glasses concept that create an augmented reality. It would allow batman to press buttons on a wristband controller that could do things like gather analytics on criminals, project a gps in his vision, control his batmobile, call an EMP, night vision, etc. Here's some initial drawings of the design. Let me know what you think.

I would ditch the wrist screen. There's too much of a chance it could get broken in a fight.

The HUD is a good idea, and within the scope of the Nolan films (ala TDK).

My advice: check out the Iron Man movies and see how they handle his HUD, include an eye-tracking system so he can navigate menus by blinking, for more complex computing replace the wrist computer with a gesture based interface that can track hand/glove movements (ala Kinect), include a bit more than just GPS and facial recognition software. I would think Batman might also use something like Word Lens, but instead of words it would recognize a building and then display relevant information about it (occupants, recent crimes, etc.).

Use "layers" as a way to keep his view from getting cluttered: crime view would show him where crimes happen, people view identifies individuals he's looking at (tracking his eyes), Augmented Reality view would show floating stats on locations, sonar view (ala TDK), etc.

All from Batman 1 (which came out this past September).

Thanks for the input. It sucks that our idea has already been thought of, but at this point we have no choice but to move forward with it. Are there any suggestions you have about the functions of our design, or anything you would add.

Our idea basically has face recognition, gps, emp, and a criminal database. We also plan to make the wristband less visible and more of a part of his suit. Functionality would not be too important considering that the comics wouldn't need to necessarily explain them. Let me know if you have a cool feature to add, or if you can see any other problems batman could run into. ???

Can you make any wrist screen instead be disguised as a wrist watch? (The big, fat ones seem popular among people with oodles of money these days.)

That would be an awesome idea. What kind of things should his visual display be able to accomplish? Anything we could add to it to give batman an advantage over his enemies? ...any enemies in particular?

A simple, but possibly effective thing . . . have it be able to also project a bright Bat-signal that could either be shined in the eyes of crooks to momentarily blind/distract them, or to just be projected on a wall or something when Batman wants to startle / frighten the less experienced ones.
