"There are children in there!" Said the avengers, after parking the Helicarrier directly upon Utopia.

I think it's that Gillen's been playing his neurosis with nuance and class. Aaron comes along and Cyclops is practically wearing a sandwich board to match his messiah rant.

So should Scott start up the Church of the Phoenix? Jean as the Mother, Hope as the Daugter and the Phoenix Force as the Holy Spirit.

I'm sure news reports will read: 'According to sources within the avengers "it became necessary to destroy Utopia to save it."'

It also seems a bit of a waste of time to throw Colossus at the carrier. Given Magneto can significantly change the orbit of something as massive as the breakworld's planet destroying super bullet, he should be able to crush the carrier instantly. Or if killing its entire crew is too un-pc, at least rip an engine or two off to force it to crashland. No need to screw around with half measures that keep the avengers in the game.

The Avengers are such jerks "There are children inside that building. What in the world is Summers thinking?" Probably, that he wants to protect them from the colonialist invaders of his homeland?

I love how the image of Dazzler in the lineup is so obviously ripped from elsewhere. Makes no sense that Magma and Sunspot are suddenly involved.

That just furthers my whole opinion that this AvX event is pissing all over both the X-Men and the Avengers. Neither team comes off well here. Scott appears to be some kind of mentally unstable fundamentalist, while the Avengers come off as naively incompetent.

Big event books are rarely cerebral or essentially clever in their design and execution. They're mostly big, smash-em-up, popcorn action - sort of like your typical summer movie blockbuster.
The X-Men will act like crazy cultists, the Avengers will act like naive colonialists, X-fans will think the X-Men are right, Avengers fans will think the Avengers are right, and the status quo will quickly realign after the fact. What may prove interesting are the books themselves outside of the main AvX miniseries and the Versus fight books. I'm looking forward to how KG will address these matters in upcoming issues of Uncanny; as well as how Aaron will deal with it in WaTXM - similarly Remender in X-Force. This is where you might find the more intellectual and metaphorical explorations of AvX. The main book itself is just going to be a lot of punching and hyperbole

I don't see what peoples' problems are. Cyke is crazy. The Avengers are trash. Seems pretty accurate to me.

Even when she doesn't appear in a book, her character rings true. Heh.

Jason Aaron and his Wolverine masturbation fanfic continues.

Thank you Aaron for confirming the suspicions I had for Wolverine.

As of this issue, Wolverine to me is defacto FINISHED. He's trash, a scumbag and a filthy, disgusting traitor. He is no longer an X-Men or worthy of being one.

Fuck Wolverine and I hope he is killed at the end of this. The Avengers thread on this is 1000% correct.

Fuck Jason Aaron too for shitting all over Cyclops with this retarded religious fanatic bullshit just to make Wolverine look good.

    Pathetic!!!!

Petey isn't in Juggy mode in those panels. So, he's trying to remain in control of the evil in him. But alas, it is quite evident that Cyttorak's infulence will take full effect very, very soon and he's gonna tear up a lot of shit. Which, honestly, I'm very happy about. Destroy everything...

True, but then AvX would be a single shot issue and how would Marvel be able to bleed more money from us then? :)

You much rather he end up with a metal arm through his heart?

Joss Whedon couldn't make Colossus interesting. He's been on the A-team because of Whedons AXM and nobody could do anything worthwhile with him. Gillen should be commended for his work with Colossus because it is the first time I actually gave a damn about the character. Heck even Claremont kind of went off the character.
