What "creators"? I'll take developers, or something like that, but they didn't "create" ****.

So the plot of every single episode is contained somewhere in a comic book or what? I never watched the show because, well, Trenchcoat Superman, but you seem to have a narrow definition of "creation" and "creator."

Lionel Luthor, Chloe Sullivan, and Tess Mercer just appeared out of the ether, then?

I wouldn't take credit for doing Smallville either.

Especially since didn't they bring the character of Chloe over to the DCU at one point?

Eh, I'd say it depends on what else you've done. Smallville was one of the highest rated series to ever air on the WB/CW. Unless you've already created some blockbuster films or tv series.

I know what you were trying to say, keep in mind, I'm just saying..

Creators and developers are essentially the same thing in this matter. Al Gough and Miles Millar took the lore of Superman and the concept from Tim Steely and created a whole show around it.

Millar and Gough landed a script draft or two of "Spider-Man 2" based on "Smallville". They had also worked on "Lethal Weapon 4", "Shanghi Knights", "Shanghi Noon", "The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor" and more. Tollin/Robins Productions worked on a number of film and television projects over the years. So the show has been good to both parties.
