Would you be OK if Marvel race-switched Nick Fury (a la Psylocke)?

Making Fury black is less obvious than randomly pooping in a black dude to be the new Nick Fury.

he can't be interesting because they've introduced him as a half-hearted attempt to lineup 616-Fury with movie Fury. if i been in that board room someone would have gotten pymslapped.

I can't see a "race switch" plot being handled with sensitivity. I would have much less of a problem with killing Nick off and replacing him with a new character. (And I'm not particularly eager to do that.)
