    Default Secret Avengers #25 *Spoilers*

If you had started this thread, you wouldn't have to put up with my lackluster review. all your fault!

    SPOILERS
    spoilers:

.The Human Torch and Captain Britain continue fighting adaptoids

. Hammond has a brief but meaningful scene with Deathlok-Miss America

. Miss America sets Hammond up to find Father; afer giving us a recap of the Descendant's history (all part of the plan but i'm not sure how)

. at one point it wasn't just Father. there was a Brother (M.I.A - i wonder if he's related to Braddock) and a Mother (killed by the Deathloks)

. apparently WWII-era england is to blame for all of these descendants; wanting to replicate the original Human Torch

. yes Hammond was the inspiration and they somewhat revere him/consider him a god of sorts

. Torch throws down with the city's giant bouncer; a Mastermold Sentinel

. he flies into its head and commands it to self-destruct

. Valkyrie and Black Widow are still trying to protect the kid and kind of getting their rears handed to them (boy, are these Adaptoids formidable)

. Venom shows up to flirt with Valkyrie and hold the Descendants off so that Val and Widow can evac the little kid (Parvez - who demonstrates some power potential of his own)

. Clint, Beast, and Ant-Man meet up with the others in time to teleport out of the city

. Hammond is "mortally" wounded just before they skip town

. back to the satellite base - Hammond's in a stasis tube - Pym's talking science - wants to examine one of the mini adaptoids to figure out a way to repair Hammond

. Clint's wanting to remain tight-lipped about everyone - doesn't want to seem like a screwup in front of Cap

. last page confirms what a lot of us already knew - Ant-Man's a descendant spy - and he doesn't have his g-damn mutton chops!!
    end of spoilers

Overall, i thought it was a dcent issue. I'm still interested in the story; which is the goal.

i was just about to make this thread.

curious to see how long Ant-Man will be sticking around, given his new...status. also hope Human Torch isn't out of action for too long. and i liked the Venom/Valkyrie interaction. he just broke up with Betty, throw the guy a bone.

he hits on her in his own series, as well. i'm cool with it. kind of suprised that she throws the attention back his way. she hasn't shown much interest in anyone else. i thought she was kind of obsessed with Sigmund. Hammond seems to be the biggest threat to Father. so he'll probably be back into fighting form by the end of the arc. i wonder what Father was talking about when he said that one of the Council prepares to betray them. is he talking about the Doombot?

I think he means Max Fury. He's got his hands in a bunch of pies right now, he's the most likely to be able to pull out, like the rest of the bots.

Awesome issue. Good to see that this Father is the one from UXF. Good bridge between the books, might be what gets them to cross over eventually.

Hammond was really growing on me with his throwback kind of dialogue. Hope he isn't gone for too long. Venom and Val would be a great pairing. Not the first time Remender has pushed that relationship (see Venom #15)

Meh. It was fine, but pretty standard.

I enjoyed it and I'm very curious to see what the plans are for Jim, given the the O'Grady replacement said he was "better than fine" and that sure doesn't look like better than fine to me! Hopefully that means an interesting story line with Jim.

And as others have said, I'm curious who will be the traitor.

I wonder how long this plot point is gonna be on the back burner since Secret Avengers will be covering the AvsX tie-ins for the next few months.
Holding out for a Peter/Miles team up.

I think Remender is plotting a Flash/Brunnhilde romance. Not sure if want, but I'll try to let him convince me.

This was a nice conclusion to the arc, and it's going to be frustrating to lose momentum for this AvX tie-in about Captain Marvel and characters not on this team. Especially since we haven't gotten serial character development ever in the history of Secret Avengers. Oh well, maybe it will be good, and double shipping should make the issues go by faster, even if it's not.

Monthly Black Widow gripe— she finally does something in a fight that isn't get knocked out, and we don't get to see it on panel!! She's one of the two or three characters with no clear direction or plotline in this book, I hope that changes in upcoming arcs. (Because I'd rather her development be handled here than in Winter Soldier.)

I think it's entirely possible the real Eric is still alive, being held captive by the Descendants or similar.

Val and Venom? I think I am going to be sick.

Plot should be on back burner for the next five months, maybe more if we have fallout issues and depending on how big status quo changes.

i thought it was a pretty kick ass conclusion for the first arc.

AVX filler for the next 4-6 issues. will Remender bring back the Shadow Council after that?

Good issue and hope Hammond makes a quick recovery cause I think the team will need him for further clashes with the Descendants. I was also curious on who on the Fathers council is planning to betray him. My guess is either Emperor Doombot or Max Fury as mentioned already since he has his fingers in the Shadow Council's pie so he might have his own ulterior motives.

Great revelation on the Descendants and tying them with Weapon Plus. Makes me wonder if Weapon Plus was involved in creating organic supersoldiers and mechanical ones with the various programs seeking to make a merger between the two. Anyway, my suspicion is that the Brother is a Braddock, perhaps Sir James Braddock even. The reason I say that is because of UXF had the Otherworld arc that concerned the item that gave the Highbreeds life namely the Orb of Necromancy which was returned to Otherworld. Plus, Captain Britain's on the team so perhaps they are tying him with the bad guy by him the Brother be possibly his own father who was involved in Weapon Plus.

Also, ties to Remender's UXF as it mentions him being killed by Deadpool and it taking him quite a while to grow a new body and age it to its current form. And that Pakistani Highbreed woman, did he rebuild her? It looked like her who absorbed the blast from the Sentinaught Mastermold.

And good to see peoples suspicion correct about Ant-man. I didn't think of it at the time until I read peoples comments in the last discussion on issue 24.
