Default Interspecies Relationship: Would you do it?

In just about every form of science fiction the inevitable cross-species happens. Yet how likely are these romances to work out? Shows like Star Trek would have us believe that the majority of the alien races out there can crossbreed between species, resulting in a half and half. While universes like Mass Effect shows us that do to differences in biology crossbreeding between species is generally impossible, save for one unique exception when it comes to the Asari.

My question is does the idea of whether or not children are possible decide if a particular inter-species relationship is acceptable?

Would you consider such a thing?

What about the difference in physical appearance? Using the Universe of Mass Effect as a example of extremely different physical appearances. You have the option of romancing a Turian partner or a Drell one if you control a female shepard. Do you think you could commit to a relationship where your spouse was a member of one of those two races?

Rogue and Bishop's daughter would be called Discharge, and she'd touch people and drain all or some of their bioelectrical energy out of them causing them to either die or fall unconscious. She could then use this energy to extend her own life, heal herself, enhance her physical abilities (speed, strength, stamina,) or discharge it as various energy beams.

I have dated quite a few guys who I am quite certain came from Mars.

    Three words:

    Alien venereal diseases.

I ain't risking that, let alone whatever their anatomy might be like. Too many unknowns, but I wouldn't want Klingon Herpes, I'm betting.

I'd do it in a heartbeat, if I die because of it, at least I go out happy.

Also, I wouldn't just do it willy nilly, there has to be a level aesthetic pleasure to it.

Not if I was the first one form my species. And no to turians or drell they just don't look attractive.

Personally I don't think creatures were meant to procreate outside of their genus. You can love something outside Biological classification/tree but I don't see you being able to procreate.

If overtime we learned our species were compatible in such away and there was no risk involved and I found the alien attractive than maybe.

Less venereal diseases, more being allergic to alien body fluids. Which was brought up in Mass Effect 2. It's theoretically a real thing, and why you don't want to have sex with a dog.

Or going back to the pilot of Babylon 5, the space hooker may look pretty, but they tear off their mates' heads after sex and lay eggs in the neck.
The Punisher: Iím going to cauterize your rectum, sealing it shut, so when you turn those delicious Pink Pantsô Fruit Pies into waste products the bilirubin in your feces will leach into your bloodstream and youíll die screaming! And Iíll watch while having sex with this grateful prostitute!

Trussed-Up Hooker: Blueberry are my favorite!

In other words, what StoneGold said.

Same-sex relationships certainly won't result in any biological children of the couple, together. So why would an interspecies relationship require this? Children are only a requirement if the couple sees it as a requirement. Plus, sex isn't the only basis of a relationship.

Would you consider such a thing?
I wouldn't rule it out simply because we're not the same species. There are, of course, other issues. Any romantic relationship requires a friendship, imo. There needs to be some compatibility between the two. Of course, some people don't even require this for same-species relationships. Who am I to judge? Can the two (or heck, more!) relate to each other, linguistically and psychologically? Can they mingle physically without harming each other? I mean physically, and biochemically. Sexually transmitted diseases are a certainty, but they can be overcome. And really, STDs aren't just transmitted through sex. Are the various secretions safe? Hey, they might even increase the intermingling (OMG, whatever that is oozing out of your ears is better than Viagra!). Even if the body parts don't match up, can that be fudged? If Tab A doesn't go in Slot B, then maybe Tab A and Slot B can be stimulated in other ways.

If compatible mentally and physically, no matter how remotely, then sure! Even the risks of harm aren't necessarily that big of a hindrance. Risk of death? Yeah, but even that isn't a complete thing. There are couples that persevere with HIV. Again, sex isn't the end-all be-all.

What about the difference in physical appearance? Using the Universe of Mass Effect as a example of extremely different physical appearances. You have the option of romancing a Turian partner or a Drell one if you control a female shepard. Physical appearance is a factor in any relationship. However, love can overcome this. If my wife were suddenly injured and had a deformity, I'm honestly not sure how our relationship would be affected. I'd hope that it would survive, but depending on the deformity, I just don't know. The more severe, the harder it would be. Say, if a monkey ripped off her face... it would be extremely difficult to overcome.

The differences between species would be handled in a similar way: the more different, the greater the love that would be required to overcome the difference. The Turian looks... dangerous to touch. All of those spikes and stuff. I still wouldn't rule it out. The Drell doesn't look that bad. Of course, I'm completely ignorant about both species; what are they like mentally/psychologically? That's the first hurdle to overcome.

Any alien that looks like a Hollywood actress in makeup is most definitely a potential.
