I'm excited to see how this develops. It could be really interesting.
Congrats Mr. Kirkman, I'll keep an eye out (and pick up the comics to see what we'll be dealing with here).

I haven't read the book, but is it that bad? I haven't seen much of a dip in the quality of Walking Dead and I hear Invincible is still quality. I'm hoping all these TV projects don't derail the solid comic writing, especially when you consider that the comic far outshines Walking Dead show
I flipped through it at my local comic book store and was not really intrigued by what I read. Just not the type of story that I personally get into.
Why does AMC have such a hardon for Kirkman? Of all the comic books out there that they could make into a TV show, they just go for the one by the same dude as last time?
Yeah, that's a tough one to puzzle. They have one successful show with him based on a comic he created, it's completely insane to think they might try it again with one of his other properties.

This news has made ebay go crazy.
I wasn't so much saying I couldn't understand the safe, unimaginative reasoning involved. I was more just saying that it's safe and unimaginative. They've had success with a show based on a comic book. There's a whole world of comic books out there. But instead of asking themselves, what are the most worthy and interesting comics out there that might be made into another hit show, they just thoughtlessly ask themselves "what else has that Walking Dead guy written?"
Not saying I don't get it, just saying it's cynical and dumb.
That's a needlessly pessimistic view of the decision (but this is the internet, so...). They've obviously got a good relationship with Kirkman, why not capitalize on that? If they have faith in him and want to try another project of his, good for them. I don't think it has anything to do with safety, a lack of imagination, or cynicism.

Let me put another way: It's not like if they had adapted some of his work and it has done poorly they would have said "Well, we love that guy's work and we have faith in it so we're gonna try something else by him!" Clearly it's the success of The Walking Dead that makes them want to mine more of his work. By that logic, can you really argue that it's their "relationship" (in any other aspect than previous success, such as admiration for his work) with him that motivated the decision rather than the usual Hollywood motto of "do whatever made the most money the last time"?
Well, they have a good relationship. He is doing well for them and obviously, since they have been at it 3 years now, they must feel he is also personable and a winner they can work with.
