Well I do remember Joe Quesada saying millions of times the two universes would never cross over because it would indicate Marvel would have officially run out of original ideas... I guess Axel didn't read any of those interviews. I don't see how this could be a good idea/premise

People, this isn't Peter meeting Peter. There's a lot of really great story possibilities here. Whether it's Miles' life changing due to meeting such a mentor or the possibly emotional impact from MJ and Aunt May meeting a grown-up adult version of the person they love who recently died.

There's a LOT of fantastic stuff to work with here. As comic fans, I'm shocked that some of you don't see the potential. Who cares about a 10-year-old quote said when the situation was different for the book? This could be great.
