I'd rather call that an abyss. That is my problem with these kind of lists made by English-speaking readers: I wouldn't mind a full English language comics list, but what are Tintin and Yotsubato doing in it? If you're going to include European and Japanese stuff, they should fill about two thirds of the list. Otherwise, those two aliens make no sense, it is as if I compiled a list of the best writers ever and only listed European authors except, say, Faulkner and Kawabata, just to show that I can name at least someone from America and Japan.
BTW, I guess everybody knows Tintin, but I heartily recommend the little known Yotsubato: it is probably my favourite running series (too bad that it is bi-monthly, and tri-monthly sometimes), and it features the best child ever seen in a comic book. She is so incredibly realistic (even though she is drawn as a caricature in contrast with the other characters in the series) that my girlfriend and I usually refer to her as if she were a real person. Odd, I know, but Yotsuba feels more alive than many people I know.![]()
