Probably the only book Im gonna buy today. Looks great!
read it,nice art,and nice fght, tons of SB blood.
Dont mess with the "S"
One of my favorite issues yet. I think Lobdell is playing with Grunge's history:
"Nobody treats Grunge like a joke!"
"There was a time when I had to touch things to gain their properties, not anymore!"
Pretty funny and a nice wink to fans of the character. Superboy is also implementing his abilitites in more interesting ways, it was a really smart and brutal way to win the battle.
The Culling seems exciting too and I'm glad to see the new Beast Boy and Terra (But I will miss you Atlee!).
Comic Books are fun, Comic Book fans not so much.
My Thoughts
-It was Brutal fight between Superman and Grunge but well done
-The end of the fight didn't make any sense Grunge is a metamorph capable of making his body adjust,He wouldnt have been hurt by what Superboy did at the end.
-Superboy has Kyrptotian abilities like we have long be speculating,Superboy was able to heal in hour from his injuries which is good it not high level stuff but you can see where he has influence of superman powers. He has fought metahumans and taken hits which should have hurt normal humans and he was able to hit grunge hard enough to break his neck so can assume he has a little superstrenght as well
-Grunge is not evil,i guess in the future will show that he was being mind control by Nowhere so at some we will see the more chill Wildstorm Grunge.
When did Superboy get X-Ray vision? It was an alright issue I guess. This book hasn't really lived up to the first 3 issues or so though.
There was a LOT that was going on this issue. Great issue but I had a hard time grasping everything that was going on.
Reading: A Comics, Superman, Superboy, Batman, B&R, Nightwing, G Lantern, GL:NG, The Flash, J League, T Titans, Earth 2, World's Finest and Smallville S.11!
Watching: Young Justice.
I too was confused by the seemingly missing events. Must be a lead-in for Titans I guess. Maybe Lobdell is trying to play a Morrison card by screwing with the sequence of events, or it could be more likely that it's just a schedule thing.
Anyway, not bad. Lots of stuff seemed to happen and we got a stupid huge fight too, a rare combination. Good fight, all in all. I liked the upgrades Grunge had. The ending was brutal. At first I thought Grunge went down to easily, if he can recover from a broken neck in seconds, but then I realized....multiple chunks of cybernetics, ripped out of his body Magneto style. Yeah, dude might heal decently, but that has gotta hurt.
I felt Grunge was a little....I dunno....flat, I guess, personality-wise? He just sort of had that typical "bads$$ young antagonist" dialogue going on. I didnt see the pop Grunge used to have.
Oh, and I agree, he needs a new look, but I cant image that guy without the ink or wearing a shirt.
Anyway, its no big since this is his first appearance. I expect characters to feel a little off at first as the writers get acquainted with them. Lobdell never wrote Gen13 did he? If so, as someone else said, new universe new rules.
And I cannot express how much this issue amped my interest in Solstice. She has a kind of cool passive thing going on. Havent seen that in a while.
Good issue, but somehow overall I dont think it was one of the series' strongest.
I also want to that the art for this series is NOT doing it for me. Why do all the women look like they have manly faces?

Yes it was brutal reminded me of watching Spartacus.
I was a bit fuzzy on that as well but IMO it just boils down to Lobdell nerfing Gen13. Grunge had pretty quick healing back at WS, Fairchild could fly and would not be stopped by a falling building, etc.
IMO, cannot really tell if he has super strength. A normal Human can break a neck now if he punches through a body I would say yes.
Yeah, I am also having trouble with evil or at least more amoral Gen13 members. They were light side to DV8's dark side.
