Speaking of sin cara, i was listening to an old interview with Konnan, not that old, on the mlw podcast before they gave him his own show, he says that a large portion of the heat sin cara had wasn't the "walking around like a star" thing, he apprently heard this from Rey, who he's good friends with, it was basicly that he was a dude in a mask who wans't Rey that pissed people off. Rey is really popular in the locker room, all the guys like him, but he's injured again, he's obviously getting older, and the wrestlers, who love him, saw Sin Cara as his replacement. So he would be having a match and it wasn't amazing, and guys were seriously saying "Well see, he can't work like Rey." Which...is stupid since Rey had been working in america for over a decade, and Sin Cara had been working in america for...no time at all. But basicly, they resented him for what they thought he was being built as. Rey and him had no heat, and they didn't even really speak because of Rey not being around much, but he said guys called rey reporting on Sin Cara matches saying stuff like "This guy is nowhere near as good as you man!"

there's some truth to that, rey being better than cara(not because he's been working in the US for so long either). somewhere along the line people confused being a huge star in mexico with being the best in mexcio.
Mr. Backlund continued wrestling under the new gimmick of an out of touch, yet highly dangerous, maniac out to teach the new generation a lesson.[3] He often appeared in business suits, had a hyperactive personality, and used (or, often, misused) large words to sound important. He also demanded that he be addressed as "Mr. Backlund". He would only sign autographs for wrestling fans if they could recite the names of all of the US Presidents in chronological order

    I still think it's unfair.
They were looking at him wrestle an american in one of his first matches with a wwe wrestler and judged he couldn't work.
He got brought in, they held a fucking press conference to announce it, didn't even make him go to FCW, and just said go. And his matches were just spot fests at first anyway. Im not familar with his work as mistico, but knowing alittle bit about lucha, i do think a guy wouldn't have been as big a star as him for as long as he was if he was just a dude who could do a few neat highspots.

So, what im saying is, he was set up to make the guys not like him. He didn't know the style and wasn't even given the chance to learn it, he doesn't speak the language so he can't make friends with the wrestlers, he came in with giant fanfare as the next big thing, but he was essential filling the role of little dude with a mask, and they love the little dude with a mask they already had.
You could put a japanese wrestler in a wwe ring tomorow and he can have a good match with a ton of guys. But a guy who only worked the mexican style is at a pretty big disadvantage and they should have anticipated that.
Now, hopefully, him being back means a feud with hunico, because he can work with him, and i personaly think Hunico is a very talented guy who's been doing exactly jack shit since Sin Cara got hurt.

Think about it, it's a show about watching old wrestling clips and making fun of them, and over half this episode was of a HHH Puppet hijacking it while talking about how good he is and burying the two hosts.

Unless HHH never watched the show I suppose he didn't mind making fun of himself

It almost never works to bring in a new guy to WWE with a mega push. Everyone ends up resenting it, and the guy has to spend a year or so digging themselves out of a hole.

I'm completely in favor of more Hunico/Sin Cara. If WWE is patient, Sin Cara can get there. He is talented, but they need to channel a little Paul Heyman and put the guy in a position to succeed.

Well, I think it bodes poorly for Luke Gallows getting another shot any time soon. They don't like two people having the same first name.

If there could be a match that involved Khali and his opponent playing pinball, one game apiece to a finish, I'd be thrilled.
