She has some unique powers. She was genetically experimented on in Krypton. I guess it's a way to make her more unique from Superman.

When did they show that? I cant remember reading anything that would suggest that.

That's true, but "a monster comes to earth, superman fights it" is the most basic, tired and unoriginal solicit you could ever have.

I think he's thinking of when Simon Tycho from the first arc briefly captured her and tested on her.

IKR. So all the guys who only read Superboy would've missed his exposition heavy intro that contributed nothing to the plot of TT, now get to see him used.

Looks like it will be Action Comics and Supergirl for me.

So Kara gets yet another unique power (first the solar flash thingy) and superman has none. I gotta say I'm really jealous. Give superman ttk and I'll be fine :)

Doesn't exactly scream "You must buy this!" does it?

So these are the "solids", huh?

When do the "liquids" come out?

That looks... not much like Tom Welling or Erica Durance (if that's supposed to be Lois). Also, why doesn't he have red trunks? I can see it (but not like it) in the relaunch world but animated Superman and Superman Earth One seem to still have the red trunks and Smallville Superman definitely had the trunks in the finale. I just don't get the lack of red trunks for Smallville continuity. Do they think there'll be crossover and want to get Smallville fans to like the no trunks look in this comic? I was looking forward to this but I just can't get behind the no trunks look especially when it's wrong continuity wise.

That doesn't look like Tom Welling, but Lois certainly looks like Erica Durance to me.

The animated Superman has trunks because those have been in reproduction before the relaunch was announced. I wouldn't be surprised if they were eventually phased out. Ditto Earth One. The Smallville Superman barely had any glimpse beyond his face and upper chest in the suit, so there's nothing definite at all about him having trunks there.

It's a marketing thing. DC has been phasing out trunks in heroes for a long time, and Superman just happens to be the most recent one. With the movie costume having no trunks, it looks clear WB/DC wants to just do away with that 1930s circus-style clothing.

Even if there trunks previously (which isn't necessarily true), it's not hard to accept the costume was modified in story.

Also, aren't they going trunk-less in the coming Superman Family Adventures as well?

On a closer look it does seem more like Erica Durance than I thought (albeit a bit of a distorted version). The trunks were clearly there when he first changes flying out of the Fortress and when he's floating above the Earth after pushing Apokolips away (though that one is harder to tell). I haven't rewatched it in a while so I can't remember if there were any other shots that had the trunks or not. Still, I'm just not interested now and I just don't get the hate of the trunks that seems to exist by DC. I pre-ordered the first issue cause I like Smallville a lot and Bryan Q. Miller but that'll probably be it for me. So far the only no-trunks look I've liked was Earth Two and I can't figure out why but they seem to have missed the boat with the characterization there but I can't say for sure until I read him in May. Thanks for the reply.

One of the stronger theories out there is that new powers are popping up because Kara herself is the missing fifth Worldkiller that Reign mentioned in the last issue.

And as far as those powers, really the only one that's been categorically confirmed thus far is the full-bodied solar flare thing she's done twice now.
