Default DC Comics' "National Comics" Series to Explore the New 52

This July, DC Comics further explores the characters of the New 52 through "National Comics," an anthology-style series launching with Jeff Lemire and Cully Hamner's new take on Kid Eternity.

Wow, that's unexpected! But I wish Lemire had stayed on Frankenstein (at least, I hope Frankenstein continues to be great with the new writer).

Why not Adventure Comics I wonder?

Looker? Seriously? That one should have been left at the bottom of the barrel.

Finally, something for me to get excited about. Of course the strength of this lies in the creative teams DC has lined up. If they're starting with Hamner and Lemire, they need to try to hold at that level. My question is this. Why do they need this book and their other DC anthology book DC Comics Presents? I get that NC is just one-shots and DCP allows room for longer form stories but couldn't they just incorporate the NC stories in DCP? Of course this is all moot if DCP is going to be cancelled.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

This sounds interesting. I'm definitely willing to give it a shot. :)

So, they're doing what they should have done with DCU Presents.

This wasn't the reason Lemire left Frankenstein, it's only one issue. He left to write JLD.

Anyway, I'm a fan of both Lemire and Hamner, so I'll check out their issue at least.

I wonder if this means something is getting cancelled in July to make room? And if we'll be seeing more new series the same month. I'll probably pick up different issues of this depending on creative teams.

Nothing is getting cancelled. This seems like it'll take the place of minis. DC will do cancellations in waves instead of single book cancellations.

Trademark. Adventure Comics is safe for now, having been used as recently as 2011. I don't think DC's used National as a title since the JSA event in 1999.

Fascinating. I'm a big fan of anthology books in general, so I'll be supporting this out of principle. There's a million possibilities.

I'll probably grab issues when the characters or creative teams appeal to me.

    Yep, same.

With the list of characters they put up in the teaser, I don't expect this to sell well at all...
