    23rd Place - James Asmus (22 Points)

This is one of the X-Writers that probably should not have counted. The only on-going title Asmus has written is Generation Hope and he only wrote a few issues of it before it was cancelled. That said between that, other one shots, etc that he wrote he has grown a large fan base. He is currently set to bring Gambit back to the solo world with Clay Mann.

I haven't read Generation Hope but it mustve been great if he managed to get on the list.

With that logic Matt Fraction's run is unbelievably great.

It wasn't. I have the Generation X phalanx trade and it's not that good. There are so many plotholes, the least being why the hell would Sabretooth go back and help his captors? Whatever story, whatever cast.

This is probably the most fashion-unrelated thing I've ever heard you say. I'm a little stunned.

Phalanx was pretty sketchy at times but I did like that Jubilee was a main player and I liked the side story with X-Force, Excalibur and X-Factor teaming up!

    There's substance behind the stratum.

Asmus also kicked ass in the Escape From the Negative Zone annual crossover.
    I rule me.

Oh, he's definitely going to win, but by how wide a margin I couldn't tell you.

Claremont was actually runner-up for worst writer in 2009. Evidently X-posters are merciful and forgiving, as that didn't seem to drag him down at all in the eyes of the voters here.

22nd Place: Matt Fraction (26 Points)

In somewhat of a surprise Matt Fraction's infamous run still kept in the Top 25. I credit that due to recent writers luck. Fraction took over Uncanny when Ed Bru left the book and left the book shortly after Second Coming. Fraction started the Utopian Army under Cyclops command. He brought Namor on board, had Magneto kneel to Cyclops, and had most of the X-Women say "As you wish". His idea of having a rotating cast seemed like a fun idea at the start till we realize the it was a Cyclops solo with rotating wallpaper. Fraction had great big picture ideas but poor execution that mostly came from poor dialogue, lack of character voice, and opposing art stylizes of the cartoon-ish Dodsons and porn traced Land. My favorite part of his run was the Dazzler/Northstar friendship that blossomed from being wallpapered together frequently.

THANK you! I was hoping DeFilippis/Weir would at least come in above Fraction, and it looks like they did!

I felt that Fraction had a pretty thankless job, tbh. Every other X-Writer at the time had 5-7 regular characters they could focus on more or less exclusively, while the guy on the flagship title got the unspoken expectation of giving page time to the other 100 or so mutants on Utopia.

That said, I didn't vote for him. The caption boxes drove me up the wall.
