Yeah, they kinda downplayed it when it was announced, but it has to do with Robeson consulting with Moorcock on the stories. Moorcock has a lot of faith in Robeson as they're friends, but they still get together to come up with a overarching arc that Robeson is allowed to run with. (And Moorcock is definitely letting him run with it. Issue nine has major implications for the entire Eternal Champion series.) It's also not selling all that great, so I'm hoping that there will be more.
i actually thought Skullkickers started in 2010 for some reason and for whatever reason forgot about Near Death. Both would have made my top 5.
There is a LOT of crap on this list. Voltron. Marvel's John Carter adaption. Bionic Man. I'm not sure how anyone offers those up for nomination outside of a Razzie. There's also about two dozen really great titles here that deserved to get a nomination. Having the entire category iced is a serious slap in all of their faces, and diminishes the integrity of the award IMO. If you can't find a good comic on this list, you're not looking very hard. And that's in addition to the rebooted titles that (like Invincible Iron Man which won a couple years back) are apparently qualified, but weren't nominated.
The ballots for 2012's new series is going to be intense, as there are already nearly this many worthy titles in the first three months of the year.

I coulnd't find any place where it said "1 (of X number of issues)", it was announced as an ongoing, and I it was still there in the last previews. I haven't read it, so I don't know more than that.
No including Super Dinosaur was a mistake. I thought it launched in 2010, but I was wrong, the first issue appeared in April of 2011
- Hellraiser (BOOM! Studios)
- Animal Man (DC Comics)
- Swamp Thing (DC Comics)
Unfortunately, the rest of my picks were mini-series. I don't buy too many regular monthly titles.
- Legion of Monsters (Marvel Comics)
- Strange Talent of Luther Strode (Image Comics)
Is just a list of books that are Ellegible, not a list of Books that I read or that I think that should win.. and as I said, I probably left some books out and maybe included some that shouldn't be there. But the rules are quite weird... I get that "2 issues in 2011" and "ongoing", are firm concepts, but when one starts to wonder if it has to be a completely new creation of if new series of an existing property counts, it gets slippery.
