Issue 1 was pretty awesome. One thing though, is Apollo meant to be the literal Greek God Apollo, or another God with the same name? Just because the Apollo in this serious is so young looking and not at all like the Apollo of myth.

I read it as if Apollo took the name because he had a power set that likened him to the Greek God. I could be wrong but that is how I read it.

Default I bought Issue #1 on the the strong concept alone....

But wow, I didn't expect it to be this good. Danger Club #1 was a nonstop thrill ride from start to finish. Strong dialogue, amazing art and a well told story are just the surface of it's positives. In fact, the only thing I think the only area this comic lacked was in the characterization. We got a handle on Kid Vigiliante and Apollo's feud, but everything else in that area was secondary to the story and plot. Still, when the writing is that strong in every other area, it's something that is easily forgivable in the grand scheme of things.

Beyond all of that, you know what thought I took away from this story? If DC had the creative courage to see it thought, we could've had a Danger Club type situation (without the wholesale decay of the world or even the death of all of the older heroes). I don't know about anyone else, but the thing that got me to even care about DC was the fact that it younger heroes had aged and had a lot of things happen to them in their stories. It was those two aspects, along with the possibility that those heroes could end up having their turn being in charge of the superhero community that made me want to learn about that Universe. With the relaunch pretty much killing that possilbity, Danger Club is personal wish fulfillment in almost the best form possible and I can't wait to see what happens next.

On a final note, it isn't lost on me either that a Black Male is the most powerful member of his team. We haven't seen that since Synch (R.I.P.) in Generation X and I can't wait to see how he develops from a character and power aspect
Those who refuse to learn from History, will repeat History as they wonder "What the F*ck happened?"

I got worried when my local shop said it sold out.. but i managed to find it elsewhere and am gonna add it to my pull list.

Kind of a shame when local shops can't order too much of a book since they don't wanna be stuck with it. I think he said he had ordered three of the book and they went pretty much as soon as he opened up that week.

as for the story? I like it.. defnlee lots of room for character background and the designs we did see were interesting.. Vesuvious? that guy was great.

I'm defnlee on board for this series, though the bloody "kid fight" was a little too much Invincible for me.. but thats personal taste.

I feel that titles like this are the ones that could slowly steal away the Big Two's fanbase... if they were marketed better..

Even without the Reboot of New 52, I doubt that the younger characters would ever replace the old horses. Maybe for a short time... but it would never be permanent.

Oh man. This series looks like it might be up there with Saga for me right now. The first issue was really good. I loved Kid Vigilante. I also thought the fight scene was really cool and bloody. Love fight scenes like that. So what is Kid Vigilante's powers exactly? "always being right"?

Anyway, it was a strong issue and I think it set the bar high for the next few. I hope it can keep this quality going by I love the characters already.
Pull List: Saga, Danger Club, Invincible, Chew, Animal Man, Aquaman, Supergirl, Earth 2, Dancer, The Flash, TWD, Before Watchmen, Harbinger, and Swamp Thing

i enjoyed this a lot too. i'm very interested to learn more about the characters and situation they are in. i think they picked a wise starting point for the story, got right into the action and got me interested to find out more.
Mr. Backlund continued wrestling under the new gimmick of an out of touch, yet highly dangerous, maniac out to teach the new generation a lesson.[3] He often appeared in business suits, had a hyperactive personality, and used (or, often, misused) large words to sound important. He also demanded that he be addressed as "Mr. Backlund". He would only sign autographs for wrestling fans if they could recite the names of all of the US Presidents in chronological order

Does anyone know why there wasn't an issue solicited for July?

The book is on a rough 6 week schedule. Which means a month on the catalog will occasionally be skipped. There isn't any significant difference between release dates though.

Also: And this was a bit more our intention, everyone in the world wants a book out the month of SDCC. Retailer dollars get stretched thinner and thinner. I'd rather about that and just come out with the book in August.

I missed the first issue, so I bought it digitally. I loved it enough to order a copy of the second printing, as well as issues #2 and #3. Solid work from all the creators. Thanks.
