I like the "modernization" that was given to Cap for the Avengers movie. My only complaint - and it is a tiny one at that - is the strip of white on each shoulder. I think, aesthetically, it breaks the flow of the upper body. And thematically, it just doesn't match the flag motif. Maybe they are reflective strips and mandated by OSHA safety regulations when he's riding a bicycle after dusk. I dunno.

The helmet is the only thing that I don't like about the costume. Treat it like Thor's helmet and take it off for most scenes and I'll be a happy camper.

Yeah with the helmet on, Cap looks like a star-spangled condom. They should have just given him the helmet/mask combo that the first movie used, maybe a bit updated of course.

Don't get me wrong because Community is one of my favorite shows... but what about directing sitcoms prepares people for taking the helm on a major special effects driven action blockbuster?

I think they do have some actual film credits under their belts.

The question for me is who do you put Cap against. I wanted to say AIM, but if they plan on doing MODOK then no. I was thinking maybe someone like Faustus who could turn the public against him. Just back him up by some muscle.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

It would be pretty easy to bring the Red Skull back if they wanted given the way he 'died'.

In "The Ultimates 2" Hitch did a cool thing where he made Cap's helmet more like a modern military helmet:

    SPOILER FOR CAP 1:
With the way Bucky died in the first movie I figured Winter Soldier was a logical story for the sequel...You could have Cap wrestle with being a "man out of time," and then twist it back around by having Bucky show back up. They could even bring in ScarJo/Black Widow for the Winter Solider/Widow romance like in the current comics.

    EDIT:
Agh I guess that's pretty much what they did now that I'm looking at the movie helmet more closely. Superhero costumes can be hard to do on film, I guess...

Nah. I'd rather they do something different. Save Red Skull for the inevitable third flick.

I would love to see a Baron Strucker/Hydra thing, dovetailing into the Red Skull being back at the very end. Also: Sam Wilson, SHIELD agent would be cool.

I wouldn't mind seeing Steve getting his own place and seeing Bernie Rosenthal in a movie, but that probably won't happen.

It really does! I actually have no problem with the costume, really. I'm more interested in seeing how Steve Rogers interacts with the rest of the team. I would love to see the same sort of Cap from the JM DeMatteis run crossed with Mark Millar's somewhat irreverent, ballsy Cap. Steve has some anger about being 70 years away from the woman he loved and the friends he made.

Bring on F. Gary Gray to direct, he's worked with Sam Jackson before in The Negotiator.. Villains: Crossbones, Ultimatum, Flag-Smasher (remake him as a global anarchist).. Save Falcon for part 3..

They did that paintball episode which was a perfect parody of action films.

Also Marvel relies on their second unit crews for a lot of the action.
