Still loving this book, the kids kicking butt at the casino was awesome. Wheelchair Wolvie also was amusing.

1) Find a bad guy
2) Be Wolverine
Ultimate Wolverine is coming back, sort of!
Thanks for the clarity, but Dr. Sonic already posted a link to how Space affects the body in real life. According to Scientists, a person could very well live up to five minutes in Space unprotected. Granted the person may lose consciousness and be subject to various deadly radiation found throughout space. Thanks Dr. Sonic!
And thanks to you, too, Vitruvian. Learning something new every day is great fun!

Come to deathstrike already corrected me on the space implosion thing on the first page of the thread (without any overwrought posturing). Let it go guys.

It was good to see Genesis finally get into the action. Even Kid Gladiator was impresed (somewhat). I'm curious about what what type of relationship Angel and Genesis are going to develop. Seems friendly now, but they could be trying to kill each other at any moment. We'll just have to watch that plot play out.

This was a great issue and one that did something I've been waiting to see for a long time. It actually made Beast likable again. Ever since Utopia, Beast has become my least favorite character. He's been prancing around with this whole "I'm more ethical than thou" demeanor, chastising Cyclops for making difficult decisions without ever proposing an alternative plan. I like his role in WATXM, but he's basically been background character for a while and did nothing to make me dislike him any less. This issue changed that.
For one, it dealt nicely with the events of the previous arc where Wolverine had his adamantium legs broken. It also brought Sabretooth into the fold after only making a brief appearance in the first arc. Beast was actually pretty badass in how he saved Brand from Sabretooth's clutches. It's probably the most respectable thing he's done in recent memory and I applaud Jason Aaron for taking the time to tell a story that shows Beast as more than an intellectual fodder character.
The revisit to the alien casino was a bit underdone, but I liked the moment between Genesis and Angel. They don't seem to realize their connection, but they're both in the same boat. I think that relationship has the potential to become something unique and I hope Aaron develops it during and after AvX.
Overall, this was a quality one-shot issue and I applaud Jason Aaron for his work yet again. Now we get to see how the Jean Grey Institute fares during the events of AvX. I'm really looking forward to it! The next six months should be very interesting.![]()

This issue was fantastic. The Beast vs Sabretooth fight was awesome, and Bachalo's art looked great. Can't wait for the next issue.
Pretty sure Rockslide (and possibly Anole) were on the cover if that counts. Not my favourite issue so far, but this is still an excellent book. Warbird remains a delight. I do love Bacahlo but I just think Bradshaw's a better fit.

This issue was ok. Too much Beast for my taste.
Genesis was great though. I thought his line about Kansas was great (way to represent, Aaron!).
Awesome issue. I really miss Sabretooth as a formidable and threatening opponent, and the annual Wolverine birthday visits. It seems like writers for the past decade have just written the guy off as nothing more than a brute lackey that can be defeated with little to no effort. It was good to finally see a good Sabretooth throwdown for a change, and to finally see Beast show some remnants of the charming and loveable Beast of yesterday. I'm also really interested to see what develops between Genesis and Angel.
The only thing so far that really bothers me, is that anything and everything that happened in this issue is gonna be put on hold for this Avengers fiasco. Sabretooth finally returns. Bachalo finally returns. Plot threads are beginning to tie together. But then this AVX event comes along and pushes it all to the back-burner. I recognize that many fans are really lookin forward to this event - but I just couldn't care less about the Avengers . . . or Hope . . . or the Phoenix. Aaron and Bachalo are building one hell of a title here, so it sucks when their formula is interrupted by a mandatory MU event . . . as usual.
Yes, I'm with you there. There's an odd familiarity to it. I can recall many moons ago when Bachalo had finished penciling the first four or so issues of Generation X. It had been a really fun series up until then and was book I looked forward to most each month. Then, just when things were really picking up steam, everything was put on a five month pause so that the Age of Apokolips mega-event could unfold.
Don't get me wrong, I liked AoA, and I'm looking forward to and hoping to like AvX. But I can certainly exasperation, with your exasperation over having to wait the event out before getting back to the real stories of this book.
I've got hope that Aaron can incorporate AvX. It's not like it would be a totally random thing to happen anyways, so I have some faith that, unlike AOA or House of M, it can happen and not completely derail all of the awesome that's happening.
I was all set to drop this WatXM in anticipation of the Avengers vs X-Men garbage that would be forced into it, but I gave #8 a go and it was fun enough that, coupled with Bachalo's art, I am probably going to stick it out in the hopes that the crossover doesn't turn WatXM into a hot mess.
