I know nothing about Mann personally feelings for any characters (beyond what's been posted) but I do know never underestimate the desire of freelancers to work, any work.

I was wearing a Rogue/Gambit t-shirt in the creative writing workshop I attend the other day and, to my surprise, a fair number of people had a comment to make about it. These comments were mostly how much they loved Rogue, Gambit, or how much they loved them together. One girl, who had been reading comic books in childhood but had dropped them, was extremely disappointed to learn that they weren't together anymore.

I use tumblr and there are plenty of people there who still reminisce, who are still hoping for them to get back together. The Rogue/Gambit hug in the latest issue of XML generated a lot of excitement with users hoping that it would be a sign of good things to come. Rogue/Gambit has often been frequently referred to as "THE childhood OTP". I'm afraid I can't claim them to be my childhood OTP, since I was never into comics as a child. But if I was, then they would have been.

I'm a relatively recent newcomer to the x-men (and DC/Marvel comics in general), my interest having started eight months ago when I watched XMFC for the first time. My knowledge of the X-Men universe was limited to the films by then, so I didn't know that Rogue and Gambit were a "thing". I actually thought that Bobby/Rogue was prevalent in Marvel canon for the longest time, until my friend, who had been reading comics a lot longer than I was and who was a fan of Rogue and Gambit pointed me to a few issues, the animated series and a few websites that were dedicated to them, and I instantly fell in love.

I've since started collecting storylines and issues that featured both of them; It's weird and bittersweet because whenever I read them I feel like I'm discovering something new, yet having nostalgic feelings for at the very same time.

Notara that's good to know. One thing I was disappointed about was movieverse bleeding into comicverse, when Ultimate Gambit died and Rogue continued on with Bobby RIGHT after the movies were released. At least we were blessed with oodles of genres, tv, videogames, books to see Romy in.
BTW, I've never seen an artist complain about doing characters they disliked, but that it was the writers that did! Guess two different idea-sets. Correction: Also Clay Mann did not do the smoking Remy with Anna consoling him on his lap drawing, that was Ed Benes, my bad

That's interesting, Notara and welcome to the thread. Hope you enjoy

Here's the panel from Rogue #4. It's oblique and the middle of Rogue's musings about Campbell, the "mutant dream" who could touch her and who was the other corner of the love-triangle in those issues:

    Now to find UXM #359.

I was annoyed how quickly they killed off Gambit in the Ultimate U. But Millar's characters always come across as deeply unlikeable - in his first run on Ultimate X he had
Colossus as a Mafia hitman, Logan as bad as Sabretooth and Jean as a tart who played musical beds with Logan/Scott. But the worse thing he did was the 'hero' in Wanted - a guy who openly boasted he'd gotten away with rape.

As for Mr Morrison I'm actually a big fan of most of what he does but New X Men wasn't one of them - I can't stand Emma the Bitch and since she joined X Men most female characters seem to have been reduced to supporting roles for her.

Hey thanks! IIRC, she then says Remy after that. I remember how happy Romy fans were when Rodi revealed that Campbell was really Gambit, in Rogue's 'dream'.

I'll post the other two tomorrow and might as well post the one time Gambit alludes to settling down also.

I want to comment on the #359 one, but, it's been a long day for me so it'll have to wait. Look forward to the scan! Thanks.

Sorry, Carey retconned that. She was thinking about Magneto there.

No. Carey/Rogue it's not Rogue is Legacy.

Carey it's over, he was forced, he had to make a brainwashing in Anna, because everyone knows the truth, and Rogue without Carey recover her brain, and good sense.

    You will see.

Gage I trust you, Romy in the 2013, I'm sure.

It's pretty sad when a person needs alternative realities to get themselves over with a person ( this is the type of person I could be, but I'm not really), even with Carey's rosie interpetation for Magneto it still made no sense for Rogue to be so taken by him.
Very few things in a comic has made me feel as disgusted than roguneto, the only thing that comes close was Norman Osborn impregnating Gwen Stacy! What the F* does things like this add to the comic medium?

I suppose it is possible that you could see a "Romy" return in 2013, but I am doubtful personally, Marvel seems to go out of their way to sqaush their relationship. The whole reason of Milligan's run was to break them up, IMO. Carey went with Magneto over Gambit, and claimed it made sense!
