He died? Oh, how sad. I didn't know. I liked his art. That's really sad.

    Thanks Mikeb.

We should totally put together some sort of website/gallery thing. Even a tumblr would be cool, since the fyeahroguengambit one has become quiet. There is a shortage of great Gambit/Rogue sites now, as a lot of the old ones seem to have given up in despair. I'd be happy to run it, but it will need a witty name! Suggestions?!

We could start small, and eventually make it as awesome as the Aquaman Shrine: http://www.aquamanshrine.com/

I am totally all for that! I'm inclined to suggest tumblr because of its easy like/reblog system, which would get the tumblr exposure really quickly (and yeah, the updates from fuckyeahroguengambit tumblr are sporadic at best these days), and because I'm personally familiar with it, and how posts get popular and noticed with masterposts and graphic sets like this, this and this being all the rage. Furthermore, a tumblr would allow other Romy fans from around the web to be able to submit and contribute pictures/quotes/perhaps even fanfic.

Or a wonderful twist: an Ask Rogue and Gambit tumblr blog. Ask blogs are insanely popular in the comic book fandom on tumblr. For anyone who doesn't know what an askblog is -- it's usually a tumblr blog that someone sets up in-character (say, Damian Wayne) and answers questions from users as that character, usually with pictures that the person has done herself/himself or handwritten notes (done when the person has no artistic skill whatsoever). It's essentially a form of roleplay, but these blogs also serve as character shrines as well, and users also pictures/quotes/drabbles about said character in addition to the in-character replies. It can be time-consuming if you don't have the skill/patience to draw responses to questions, however. This is what an askgambit blog looks like. This is also another ask-response typical of an askblog. Again, this type of site would be a lot of work, but I'm just throwing this out there for consideration.

If you guys ever decide to do a tumblr, I'll be more than happy to help! I know a lot of active and prominent Romy fans and blogs on tumblr that I can enlist to help contribute, or at least, help spread the word that a new Romy tumblr is up and running.

If you decide on a website itself, I'll be more than happy to help in that area as well! brainstorming witty names as we speak!

Let's do a tumblr as a starting point, since it's easier to get up and running than a website, and it lends itself better to collaboration, and it'll be easier to get it known. Once that's established, we can think about organising some of the information on a website. I love tumblrs a great deal, but the OCD part of me always wishes they would allow for better organisational schemes! :)

An Ask Gambit and Rogue tumblr - or even a regular feature on a broader Romy tumblr - would be so much fun. I have zero artistic talent, though, so I could not volunteer to do that. I mean, I could write answers; I used to write a ton of Romy fanfic. I just could not illustrate those answers.

I just think we have some fabulous material here that's not widely available. It would be amazing to spread it beyond these boards. And - this is me dreaming - it might show Marvel that Romy still has passionate fans, and to abandon the insipid relationships with Magneto and Cecilia.

So, witty names? Original card puns? (I feel like something with hands would work, and also reflect Rogue's powers, but can't quite make it work!) Iconic quotes? Song titles? Plays on Romy (Romy-ance - groan)? I really should be working, but this is more fun. :D

That's awesome to hear. I fricking loved that Tumblr.

    If anyone hasn't seen it, it's http://fuckyeahroguengambit.tumblr.com/

    And welcome to the boards!

In my case, there are a few reasons.

    1) I love how much fun Romy is when it's written well. They have personalities that play very well off of each other. It's the charming scoundrel and the no-nonsense bitch (in the best sense of bitch as strong, powerful and challenging). It's the same reason why Han Solo and Leia work so well. It's a situation that makes for great banter. At the same time, their unique situation (Rogue's inability to touch; Gambit's shadowy past) allowed for more serious moments that were genuinely touching and engaging, that showed another deeper side to the characters. You got to see that Gambit was more than a shallow ladies' man, for instance.

    2) As a feminist, I also appreciate the fundamental equality of their relationship. Unlike Rogneto where Magneto always dominates, Gambit genuinely seems to appreciate and respect strong women, and so treats Rogue like she's an equal partner with a voice in their relationship. (It's what I appreciate about my own husband.) I would say that it's gone a bit too far the other way in recent years, where Rogue has become too dominant and Gambit too submissive, which I don't like at all. However, I guess I'm talking about Romy at its best.

    3) They're also just pretty, pretty people who look good together. :)

Askgambitandrogue would be hilarious. I'd love to see jokes on why Marvel does what it does from Rogue and Gambit's perspective.

As for names since its a X-Men and Gambit and Rogue written response,

    Southern Hospitality?

How about some reference to literature?

    The Sound and the Fury?

    To Kill a Marvel Mockingbird?

    A Streetcar (Blackbird) named Desire?

A Good Man is Hard to Find and other stories?

    or food:

    (Rogue's) Boysenberry Pie

    Crawdaddy Grits

    Mint Juleps and Gumbo.

Mississippi Sweet Tea and Louisianna Lemonade

The old standby of Sugah and Spice or Southern Comfort

I'm sort of partial to Southern Hospitality or Boysenberry Pie as its an obscure reference all Gambit and Rogue fans know and you can use the picture of Rogue with pie on her face and Gambit going ooops.
