Thanks Mike. I didn't remember the second one. There are so many great scenes that some of them run together. Anyone remember when Xavier forced them to think the ones they loved had died to try to find a "traitor" that turned out to be the fake Wolverine while Wolverine was Death?
does anyone know which issue or series(adjectiveless x-men,uncanny,etc.) was it when rogue did a simulation of some sort with her being married to gambit and having a kid named charles??
ROMY has a heart that few comic book relationships have.. even the ones that Marvel pushes the most. Perhaps, Cyclops and Jean had as good of a story, but we know how that ended up.
Marvel has really screwed up their personal relationships between their characters, now it is either relationships that are fu*ked (rogneto) or uninteresting with true chemistry (Fantomex/ Betsy) (Nothstar/Kyle).
The kisses and hugs are cute but what I always liked about Gambit and Rogue is how much fun they were or cared about how the other felt. Remember the scene with Rogue driving wild (I bet her can't look weak boyfriend never lets her drive) and Gambit joking with her about all the chicken wings she just woofed down (Remy likes his women with a healthy love of food, there are tons of instances with him cooking or taking her out to eat) and she nearly runs over Bishiop. Their first real date and not caring about the touching. Now that's how you develop a relationship thats not just two characters hopping into bed which seems the only way Marvel thinks reationships happen these days. Storm and BP, first sex crush. sex on a plane etc. Emma and Scott started off by having an affair and darn Emma's in lurve. Psylocke and Fantomex - sex. Rogue and whats his name have never had a date but hey they've had sex. Wow, its so (scarcasim) emotionally deep, how can you not just get misty eyed over those "couples" (/scarcasim).
Romance is quite important to the x-men franchise, it is unique in itself if you think about it, but just like anything else if it's done poorly it ends up being detrimental to characters.
I actually don't remember that (I remember a similar scene in XTAS though). If anybody has that scan and wants to share, please do. Thanks. Thanks for that info, f4faith.
Marvel used to do well in the romance dept. but the current TPTB don't seem to regard romance/love, just sex. Which, makes regard for any of the characters or fans, wanting also.
The car scene is in X:Men annual: Shattershot. The fried chicken joke was in XTAS because Rogue fell on top of him. But can't recall if that was taken from the comics originally.
