Thanks! I'm definitely enjoying all these wonderful pictures and the fact that there are issue numbers to go with them--because I plan on collecting as many Rogue/Gambit issues as I can!

I was wondering if anyone read James Asmus's latest interview regarding the upcoming Gambit book (which I am incredibly stoked for, by the way)? The link to the interview is here, which I've found through this twitter which is here-- his twitter is also a good source of information regarding his upcoming projects. I also check out Liu's and Gage's twitters for information, partly because I'm hoping to stumble across a two-way (three-way, now that Asmus is also writing Gambit) conversation between them regarding Gambit's development - which I'll probably never get to see. I do wonder though, what they say to each other re: gambit, and if they read each other's books and each other's takes on the characters they have in common.

But, back to Asmus - I for one, am extremely glad that he's going out of his way into inserting Gambit into the wider MU, have him be a free agent, getting back to his theiving roots, making him fun again. While I'll miss the headsock, I'm just glad that he's got a solo series with a writer who's determined to bring him back in a big way. But as this is a Gambit and Rogue appreciation thread, I wanted to highlight what Asmus has to say about Rogue's role in the upcoming series --

JA: For me, he always could be defined without Rogue. That was never the part I was most into. But I know a lot of people love their relationship. I will end up using herin the book, but she’s not going to be a focal point, she’s not going to be a regular character. She’s going to be a lot of fun to bring in a little bit later in the game, once you’ve established a very different status quo for him, and maybe one or two other ladies, that she can come in, and be the complication.

Look, she’s obviously a very powerful figure in his life, so there’s a ton of great story potential for that. An uncomfortable, unresolved, ex-girlfriend is always a great story element. [Laughs] But it’s not going to be about her. This whole series is really going to be about building him out, and putting him into the larger Marvel Universe.
    What do you guys think?

I don't understand why Gambit can appear in 3 or 4 books and have his own up coming series, yet Rogue is only limited to only appearing in one book. This is why I'm favor of allowing Rogue to develop offencive powers/abilities and as some sugested join the Avengers.I believe Rogue current powerset is a severe limiting factor to her more wide spread use in the Marvel Universe. :(

She has Legacy which is pretty much her book, which comes out twice a month. Plus you can't force writers to have her in their books.

She's going to have a large role apparently in the next few of issues of Watxm btw.

With Rogue dominating Legacy for the last few years, I figured that covers 3 series' worth of material
I wouldn't even count Remy in Legacy as a major protagonist.

This is going to be the most we have seen of Remy in the last decade! Did Marvel finally accept?

Interesting Ausmus said he'll include Rogue. He really didn't have to, I mean even Liu had a say and refused to include Rogue in AXM as she is not a Romy fan. Or this has nothing to do with favoring Romy or not, that Rogue has been a part of Remy's life (just like Bella Donna) and can pop up here and there (to compare: How she helped out in Fabian's Gambit series, the first issue and subsequent ones.

Not sure if I'm allowed to do this but on Rogue's thread:
    Romy>>>>Rogball>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>> Rogan >>> All bad things>>>Rogtoad>>>>>>Rogblob>>>>RogSentry>>>>>>Ro gneto
Falutin hilarious...But I would edit it to:

    Romy>>>>Rogue alone>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>> Rogan >>> All bad things>>>>>Rogneto

Yep i agree. If you add it up Rogue is the undisputed main character in two issues a month (Legacy X2). Gambit is part of a team in Astonishing (X1), the major character of his book (X1) and a bit part in Legacy. So their isn't really that much difference.

From hearing Liu on a podcast she's a bit like me in that she was a fan of Romy in the past, but it was handled pretty bad on it's latter half so i prefer the characters to be seperated for now. It's not like she dislikes Rogue or anything. Plus i understand her saying that Rogue won't show up in AXM, their's no reason for her to show up. As for Asmus, he said she won't show up untill much later on, how long will Gambit series last anyway, hopefully a long time but in this market it's unlikely so he might not even get to Rogues cameo.

May Rogue/Magneto last a thousand years! I hope she becomes as connected to him in the minds of writers as Reed and Sue are. She has found her true love; never again will she be trapped in a loveless relationship with a man she cares nothing about.

On a more serious note, it's been years since I've felt that Rogue has shown any kind of affection towards Gambit. After nearly a decade of complete indifference, or passive agressive bickering, it was weird seeing the Claremont panels where she's actually worried about his well-being. If that "pulling Gambit back from the light" scene had played out today, I can imagine her just shrugging her shoulders and agonizing about if she could call Maggy.

The Rogue appearance looks like it will be later on in Gambit's solo so nobody really knows what that appearance will look like. If Marvel keeps NuRogue (Legacy) , then, the appearance may not amount to much. Asmus probably will have to check with Gage about the state of Gambit & Rogue 's relationship, by the time he has to write Rogue cameo in the solo.

Mikeb, I don't know if it's the 'one book' thing that is killing Rogue's popularity. It may have to do with her becoming Legacy. Legacy isn't as engaging as a person or even her powers. Nobody else at Marvel (or most fans it seems) wants to read a lot about Legacy. Even if you Legacy in 10 books, I'd wager that she'll still get the same complaints she gets now in one book.

Marvel needs to revert Legacy back to Rogue in order to drum up major interest in her again.

That's because Carey wrote for the last number of years. Seeing Rogue again ( a la the 'pulling Gambit back from the light' panels) must seem like daylight when contrasted against Carey's OOC version.

whoa, I wished I remember what issue that last scan was from. The end of LaRocca's run on Xtreme?
Someone mentioned XML was for Romy fans as indicated by the last two Romy scenes Gage wrote. HUH? I didn't want any Romy there based on last years' issues! It's clear that Romy would have to start afresh elsewhere with other writers (and artists I might add) to get the stench away from Carey's run. It certainly worked for Uncanny X-Force right? Where Betsy and Warren have something going and even a different third party ( than bringing Husk, ThunderbirdIII, into the triangle which I equate slightly to Mags, I do mean SLIGHTLY)

NOOOO , the true love of Rogue is Gambit , not the old terrorist, that was just brainwashed.

But luckily, it seems that Rogue is returning to his true personality, thank god Carey is not more.

Not sure which issue that scan is from, gambit78. Maybe one of the Romy fans in this thread knows. It's probably from XXM though. After Rogue fought Vargas.

What incredible chemistry those two had - definitely X Men's most interesting relationship.

Has anyone here read the latest 'Legacy' - Mr Gage why are you doing this to us?

Claremont had his flaws but he knew his characters and never deviated from their characteristics when writing them. This is something we're not seeing with writers these days.
They seem to change the characters in any way, shape and form to conform to a pre-conceived storyline, instead of keeping characters and their histories in character.
