Gambit & Rogue Appreciation

Spoke to a long time [Romy] friend over the weekend and I do miss those friends . Anyway, this is a thread , a memorial of sorts for Rogue and Romy, for my friends of that. Miss you guys !!!

I don't have pictures of them but I'll do a search and post some. If anybody wants to memorialize them also, please feel free to add to this thread.

Okay, here are two:-

Sadly that's all this is - a memorial. They are the only x-couple I ever actually liked. All the others are/were either boring or unbelieveable. Their flirting had to replace and show a lot of emotion that other couples just jumped into bed to pretend to show. Though they were the most fun. they haven't been fun since Milligan got ahold of them and once Carey decided Rogue was an uptight school marm, she hasn't been fun period - at least Gambit's charm shown in X-23. I miss the dates both fun and serious and Bishop being an arse so Rogue ended up with pie on her face. Good times.

I did really like them together but it would take a lot of work to get them back to the fun they were before. Rogue dating a guy who treated her like dirt and basicaly still does and her treating Gambit like a backup plan has just dragged her character through the mud. Hopefully they will get a break to actually be non attached characters who get their heads on straight if they ever try to put them back together. Yes i know they fixed the mess that Milligan made of Polaris and Havok but that took them going on an adventure away from the X-Men mess. I keep hoping that AvX will finally finally get the X-Men back to being a team instead of a para-military target under a short sighted hypocrite who gets all pissy when someone makes plans to protect their own when he's already sacrificed many of his own people to protect his pet Hope.

Rogue needs to be a fun rogue who's can still surpise me with her direct linear thinking and Gambit the same with his complete misdirections and non linear thinking. I want some pictures of Rogue flying Gambit around. Ah, when Rogue could fly and her boyfriend was charming and secure enough to not care she could crush his ribs with a blow.

First of all, many thanks to Gemmy for this thread - it's great to see fellow Rogue/Gambit fans having a say!

Secondly, everything you say here is absolutely spot on. We need to see a return of the old Rogue, not some spineless wimp who sits and takes anything the x Men formerly known as Scott and Logan dish out to here. And we need to see the old Remy - the likeable rogue who was a bit like the X men's answer to Captain Jack Sparrow. It would be a good idea to have them in different teams for a while; this happened way before in the 90s and it worked. I wish someone had the guts to reveal Rogue's 'attraction' to Magneto is entirely due to Legion's programming - it's the only way to essentially absolve her from what's happened since. What makes it particularly hard to stomach is I keep remembering the XTreme X men story in which she nearly died saving him. From that to jumping into bed with someone who had used her in the past and would again just completely demeans her as a character. As for Sentry - yuk.
And I agree completely with your opinion on Fuhrer Scott and his army. That idea has done irrepairable damage to both X Men and Cykes as a character - yet what they've done to Wolverine is worse. Has anyone read AvX yet?

With all these ideals, i think people on this form should be writing for Marvels than some of the writers we have today, I mean all these awesome ideals. Might just finish up some long over due plot holes.

Thanks! But, to put the truth out there, I only intended to do a 'Romy' thread for about a week to honor my [Romy] friends whom I miss. I never expected it to turn into an appreciation thread nor that I (of all people) would start a Romy appreciation thread! lol.
